| June Update Rolling Out To Unlocked Galaxy S20 Units In The US Posted: 30 Jun 2022 06:56 AM PDT  The June 2022 Android security patch is rolling out to the unlocked units of Samsung's Galaxy S20 phones in the US. The carrier-locked counterparts received this month's security update last week. The international versions of the Korean firm's 2020 flagships has also already picked up the latest SMR (Security Maintenance Release), which contains fixes for more than five dozen vulnerabilities. The new security update for the unlocked Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra in the US comes with firmware version G98*U1UES2FVE5. The OTA (over the air) rollout is already live for devices on most carriers including AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, and C-Spire. The remaining few carriers should also get on the act soon. The unlocked Galaxy S20 phones don't seem to be picking up anything else apart from this month's vulnerability fixes here. Carrier-locked models got some additional bug fixes too. But, the June SMR is pretty huge. As said earlier, this month's security update patches over 60 vulnerabilities that affect Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and other components on Samsung's Android-powered smartphones and tablets. The patches come from both Google and Samsung. The former got rid of issues found on the Android OS, while the latter took care of problems specific to its devices. Several vulnerabilities patched this month were described as "Critical" by the two companies. If you're using any of Samsung's 2020 Galaxy S-series phones in the US and haven't yet received the June update, the wait shouldn't be too long now. You can be on the lookout for a notification prompting you to download the OTA package. As you could always do, you can manually check for updates if you don't get a notification. Simply navigate to Settings > Software update and tap on Download and install. If there's no update available, check again a few days later. The Galaxy S20 series is approaching its final Android version updateSamsung launched the Galaxy S20 series in early 2020. Back then, it made Note series phones too. The company has discontinued, perhaps merged the two series, this year. With fewer flagship models to look after, the Korean firm is now offering longer software support — four years of Android OS updates and five years of security updates. But the Galaxy S20 series isn't eligible for the extended support. It came with Android 10 on board and has received updates to Android 11 and Android 12. It will get one more Android OS update, i. e. Android 13, before reaching the end of life. Security updates will come at least until early 2024. | Google Is Finally Fixing The Pixel Buds A-Series Bass Slider Posted: 30 Jun 2022 05:51 AM PDT  Google is now rolling out a new update for the Pixel Buds A-series, and this update will finally fix the bass slider issue. “Thanks to all those who reported that they were experiencing toggle button issues with the EQ /bass slider feature where the bass effect continued to revert to original”, said Google. Google is fixing the Pixel Buds A-series bass slider bugThis issue has been around since December last year. Truth be said, this is not a huge problem for most people, but it sure was annoying. So, what exactly is happening? Well, the Bass slider in the Sound menu allows you to decrease one increment or increase by four. The thing is, the earbuds would forget that you made that change the next time you use them. So, you essentially had to change that setting every time you pick up the earbuds. Well, that will no longer be the case, Google is changing things up. This firmware update is marked as version 3.415, and Google aims to roll it out to all Pixel Buds A-series users within two weeks. So, we’re looking at a staged rollout here, as expected. The update process takes about 10 minutesOnce the update is available, earbuds will pick up on that upon your activation. In other words, the next time you use them. Then, when you return them to the charging case, the update gets installed. It takes about 10 minutes, says Google. You can also try checking whether the update is available manually. Simply put the earbuds in the case, and open the lid. Then navigate to the Pixel Buds app on your phone, go to ‘More settings’, and then ‘Firmware update’. Once you’re there, tap the ‘Update available’ option. It’s nice to see that Google is finally fixing this problem, that’s for sure. The Pixel Buds A have been hailed as being one of the best earbuds in their price range. | Samsung Releases Second June Update To Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Flip 3 Posted: 30 Jun 2022 06:11 AM PDT  Samsung is rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, the second in June. The update is currently available to users in Europe with firmware versions F926BXXU1CVF1 and F711BXXU2CVF1, respectively. It may reach other regions within the next few days. The latest update for Samsung's 2021 foldable duo in Europe doesn't bring a new security patch. Both models are still on the June SMR (Security Maintenance Release), which they received a few weeks back. The official changelogs also only mention stability improvements. But we doubt that's the only change Samsung is seeding with the new software package. The size of the update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (around 302MB) also suggests there's something more (via). Unfortunately, we can not confirm if there's any notable new feature coming to the two foldables with the latest release. The first June update seeded new camera features to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the US. It also enabled eSIM support on the former. Those camera features rolled out to European units with the May update while eSIM support came out of the box there. Interestingly, the South Korean versions of the two foldables have yet to receive the June SMR. But, the May update for them in Samsung's homeland added a "Disallow all" option for sideloading of APKs. It blocks the installation of apps from unknown sources. Additionally, the devices got Smart Widgets, a feature that helps declutter your phone's homescreen by intelligently combining similar widgets. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 also gained a vibration effect for calling. Maybe these changes are now rolling out to the European units. Or, maybe it's only some stability improvements, as Samsung says. Perhaps some necessary optimizations that the company couldn't wait to make until the July security update. We shall find out in the coming days, once the update starts rolling out widely. Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 get a second June updateIf you're using the Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Galaxy Z Flip 3 in Europe, you can be on the lookout for this update. Expect a notification to hit your phone soon. Or else, you may manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update and tapping on Download and install.
