How To View The Footage & History For Your Nest Camera

Posted: 16 Mar 2022 03:02 PM PDT

00 how to view footage history video Google nest camera doorbell DG AH 2022

Having a Nest camera or doorbell is great for security and for filling out your smart home ecosystem but how do you actually view the video history captured by these devices? The process isn't necessarily intuitive. At the very least, not for those who aren't already somewhat tech-savvy. So that's exactly what this guide sets out to explain.

There are a few ways to view your history, including two separate apps

Now, there are a number of ways to view your Nest camera video history. With only a few small prerequisites to consider. Such as slight differences between the apps and between those and the web version of Nest. There are also some differences in which of those can be used, depending on your cameras. But there's also a lot to go over here. So we'll jump right into the steps for how to view footage and history for videos captured with your Nest camera or doorbell.

How to view your Nest Camera history in the Nest app

The official Nest app is likely going to be most users' app of choice for viewing Nest camera history. And, as noted above, it'll work with just about any Nest camera. Just so long as you're not using one of its new "Battery" cameras. The battery-operated cameras will only work with the Google Home app, as shown in the next segment.

  1. Open the Nest application
  2. Tap to select a camera you'd like to view video history for — this how-to guide will work with all Nest cameras, including doorbells. We've opted for the "Backyard" camera in our sample images
  3. Nest will load up the selected camera, by default, in Live view. But the UI for interacting with video history is also already loaded up, in portrait mode. We'll discuss landscape mode momentarily as well. But for now, we'll focus on viewing history in landscape mode since that works differently. Your video event history is just a scroll or two away –depending on how far back you want to look — located just below the video feed, as shown in our sample images. Select any of those events to view it. The only events that won't appear are those that occurred during Quiet Time or the equivalent Do Not Disturb mode
  4. While viewing the feed, you can pinch to zoom on the video and tap the thumbnail again to go back to a full view of the captured area
  5. Tapping on the displayed video will also review rudimentary playback control icons. As shown in our images below, you can go forward or backward in 15-second intervals
  6. Selecting the down-facing dashed-arrow icon brings up filters. So you can select to show images of events only including what you'd like to see. Making it easier to find exact moments in your video history. For example, in our sample images, we can set the filter to show things such as a Person, Talking, or Dog bark
  7. Selecting the three vertical dashed lines icon, to the right of the filter, brings forward a vertical scrubber style timeline. As with all of the other history tools here, you'll only see what you've chosen to capture. In our case, that's the full history of events for 60-days  including 10 days of live footage — provided via a Nest Aware Plus subscription. If you don't have that subscription level, the history you see will be limited by whatever subscription you do have. Thumbnails shown in the vertical scrubber are zoomed in on whatever the subject of the video is if there is one
  8. Finally, you can select the calendar icon in the bottom bar UI to show events filtered by dates. Allowing you to jump to any given day within the limits of your subscription
  9. Now, if you turn your phone sideways after selecting a camera, putting it in landscape mode, the UI will be different. For starters, you won't have the sorting tools or the video history thumbnails. Instead, you'll be shown a full-screen image of the video with pinch-to-zoom. Tapping on the screen will also reveal a semi-transparent vertical scrub tool on the right-hand side for navigating the saved videos. Events are denoted by colored bars and dots. And you'll still have the 15-second jump tools as well

You can view more in the Google Home app with a simplified interface

If you're using the latest Nest-branded battery-powered cameras, you won't be able to use the Nest app at all to view your video history. Instead, you'll need the Google Home application. And that'll not only be for viewing on a smartphone or tablet. You'll also need the app if you're on a desktop or laptop platform using Google Home.

Of course, that's not necessarily a bad thing, either. The Google Home app is simplified and modern, falling in line with a consistent experience across the board. And it works with older Nest cameras as well as is effectively required for integration with the smart home ecosystem from Google.

  1. Open the Google Home application
  2. Tap to selec

This Stock is a Package Deal

Posted: 16 Mar 2022 02:03 PM PDT

Sometimes it's the most boring companies that offer the best values.

Just because a stock's gone up, doesn't mean you shouldn't consider buying it.

In fact, a company Real Money Columnist Paul Price liked very much six weeks ago, appears to be giving investors another chance.

Berry Global Group  (BERY) - Get Berry Global Group Inc Report makes plastic packaging and related products. They don't make the stuff you buy. They make the stuff that the stuff you buy goes into.

Just about everyone needs what Berry Global Group is selling. Somehow, writes Paul Price, the market at large hasn't quite caught on to this yet.

"Berry Global Group (BERY) posted another fine profit gain in its fiscal year 2022 first quarter ended Dec. 31," Price wrote recently. "Adjusted earnings per share matched Value Line's estimate at $1.25 versus $1.12 a year earlier and just $0.55 in December 2019."

In addition, "two key takeaways were the reaffirmed guidance of $7.20 - $7.70 for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30 and a $1 billion additional share price buyback authorization."

This, Price writes, puts even the lowest end of BERY's projected profits far beyond the company's 2021 records… by a lot. For investors who got in earlier, that's great news. They've enjoyed quite the ride.

But, Price argues, the opportunities in this company aren't over. The market continues to undervalue this growth stock.

"Berry has shown stellar growth since the end of 2013. At management's mid-point guidance, EPS will have surged by almost 800% in just nine years. Continuous shareholders were up greater than 260% over that span. Even so, Berry's present valuation, at about 9 times this year's profits compares with a more typical multiple of 15 times or so."

In fact, "even $7.20, the low end of the range for fiscal year 2022 would represent 24.1% annual growth. Where can you find another proven growth stock like that at a single-digit valuation?"

When Price wrote about the stock, before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Berry Global Group traded for less than $62 per share. With the subsequent volatility, it's now at $59.19.

Netflix Makes J.P Morgan's List of Pullback Stocks

Posted: 16 Mar 2022 03:04 PM PDT

Which stocks should you consider with the S&P 500 having lost 8.6% so far this year, even after its two-day rebound?

With the S&P 500 having lost 8.6% so far this year, even after its rebound Tuesday and Wednesday, you might be wondering what stocks you should have in these market conditions.

J.P. Morgan has created a list of stocks to own during a market pullback. The list was assembled from stocks that the bank's equity analysts identified as the most compelling in their coverage group.

The roster includes Netflix  (NFLX) - Get Netflix, Inc. Report, Amazon  (AMZN) - Get Amazon.com, Inc. Report, McDonald's  (MCD) - Get McDonald's Corporation Report, Nike  (NKE) - Get NIKE, Inc. Class B Report, Target  (TGT) - Get Target Corporation Report, Exxon Mobil  (XOM) - Get Exxon Mobil Corporation Report, American Express  (AXP) - Get American Express Company Report, Boston Scientific  (BSX) - Get Boston Scientific Corporation Report, DexCom  (DXCM) - Get DexCom, Inc. Report, Uber  (UBER) - Get Uber Technologies, Inc. Report, UPS  (UPS) - Get United Parcel Service, Inc. Class B Report, Alaska Air  (ALK) - Get Alaska Air Group, Inc. Report, Intuit  (INTU) - Get Intuit Inc. Report, Broadcom  (AVGO) - Get Broadcom Inc. Report, Salesforce  (CRM) - Get salesforce.com, inc. Report, Celanese  (CE) - Get Celanese Corporation Report and Jones Lang LaSalle  (JLL) - Get Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated Report.

As for Amazon, Morningstar analyst Dan Romanoff is bullish on the stock too. He puts fair value at $4,100, compared to a recent quote of $3,066.

"Amazon dominates its served markets, notably for e-commerce and cloud services," he wrote last month. "It benefits from numerous competitive advantages and has emerged as the clear e-commerce leader given its size and scale, which yield an unmatched selection of low-priced goods for consumers."

Romanoff is impressed with Amazon's Prime service. "Prime ties Amazon's e-commerce efforts together and provides a steady stream of high margin recurring revenue from customers who purchase more frequently from Amazon's properties," he said.

"The Kindle and other devices further bolster the ecosystem by helping attract new customers, while making the value proposition irresistible in retaining existing customers."

Romanoff lauds Amazon's cloud division too. "Through Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon is also a clear leader in public cloud services," he said.

"Additionally, the firm's advertising business is already large and continues to scale, thus offering an attractive option for marketers looking to access a vast audience with a variety of proprietary datapoints about those very consumers."

As for McDonald's, Morningstar analyst Sean Dunlop has a fair value estimate of $250 for it, compared to its recent quote of $237.72. Looking at the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, "the long-term state of both markets [is] exceedingly unclear," he wrote last week. McDonald's has temporarily closed 847 restaurants in Russia.

"In a bear-case scenario, … the complete deconsolidation of those units (which together constitute 9% of company revenue and 2%-3% of operating income) would result in a mid-single-digit decrease in our intrinsic valuation, suggesting about a $15 per-share impact," Dunlop said.

In terms of his overall view on the company, "As the leader in global food-service sales, McDonald's is taking adequate steps to adjust to an evolving competitive landscape, leveraging its scale to invest heavily in digital acuity and menu innovation and generate compelling unit economics," he said.

"While we expect an uneven return to normalcy due to varying paces of pandemic recovery globally, we're encouraged by management's vision for the business, which we believe should enable McDonald's to maintain its edge."

Girl scouts are a creepy scam

Posted: 16 Mar 2022 04:34 AM PDT

I was a girl scout for almost nine years. And let me just say, it was horrible. The activities we did were essentially all "make a hand turkey!!!" Until cookie selling season came. Then suddenly everything got INTENSE. Little girls sitting at tables for over five hours during their weekends is very hard to expect. Suddenly everything was about money and selling cookies only to get a Claire's necklace for over 500$ of sales. Then when you get older the cookies are just immediately not an option for you. Because no one wants to buy cookies from teenage girls!! They want those cute little girls!!! That's the whole point. When I sold cookies at like the age of seven I was constantly called cute and adorable for doing basically anything. It was creepy as HELL. You'd have guys coming up and asking about every. Single. Cookie. And then suddenly it's about how you're doing in school. Only to not buy anything. Free child labor!! Isn't that great? Oh wait, you're paying to be a part of girl scouts. You're literally paying to do work as a kid.

Почему паникёров надо убивать

Posted: 16 Mar 2022 03:04 PM PDT
