| The Arena Group Files to Bring its Stock to the New York Stock Exchange Posted: 11 Jan 2022 02:56 PM PST The Arena Group has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to uplist its common stock to the NYSE under the symbol AREN. The Maven, currently operating under the name The Arena Group, on Tuesday announced that it has filed a registration statement on form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission relating to a proposed offering of the company's common stock. In connection with the proposed offering, the company has applied to uplist its common stock (MVEN) from the OTCQX to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the anticipated ticker symbol AREN. Concurrent with the uplist, the company also plans to execute a reverse stock split of its common stock and officially change its name to The Arena Group Holdings Inc. The company will do business as The Arena Group. The company's Board of Directors was granted the authority to implement a reverse stock split by the holders of a majority of the company's outstanding shares of common stock on Nov. 20, 2020. The implementation of the reverse stock split is consistent with the company's previously announced intention to uplist to a national securities exchange. While the company is not currently aware of any issues, there can be no assurance it will satisfy all applicable requirements for listing its common stock on the NYSE American Exchange or that the company's application to list its common stock will be approved, the company said in a statement. The offering is subject to market and other conditions, and there can be no assurance as to whether or when the offering may be completed, or as to the actual size or terms of the offering. A registration statement on Form S-1 relating to the proposed offering has been publicly filed with the SEC but has not yet become effective. B. | How To Use Your New Google Stadia Controller On Other Platforms Posted: 11 Jan 2022 02:18 PM PST  Google Stadia may not be the fastest-growing of the gaming platforms right now but it does have a wealth of top-tier titles available and its dedicated controller is one of the best around. Better still, that controller can actually be used on other platforms. Including, for the time being, Android and iOS devices or computers. Now, it's already well known that on mobile platforms and even online, the Google Stadia controller can be used for Stadia itself. And it can even be used wirelessly on most of those. Since it syncs to the cloud rather than via Bluetooth for the service — one of Stadia's biggest perks. But that's not what we're discussing here. The Google Stadia controller brings more value to the table than that. Primarily because it can also be used on those platforms as an HID device. Put more succinctly, it can be used just like any other wired controller on those platforms, well beyond playing games on Google Stadia itself. Whether for a top, controller-supporting mobile game. Or for indie or triple-A PC games. And that is what this guide is here to discuss. So if you're looking to get more out of your new — or old, for early adopters — Stadia controller, read on. Here's how to link up your Stadia controller with PC or Android platformsGetting started linking up your Google Stadia controller on a different platform outside of the Stadia service is fairly straightforward. It relies primarily on the fact that the controllers are also "HID" devices. That also means that not every Android, iOS, or PC title will properly support the controller. And some remapping, in-game, will likely be required depending on the title. Obviously, for mobile platforms, HID controller support will need to be in place, to begin with.
        As hinted above, there are a few limitations for this set-up process — as is always the case with how-to guides. Not least of all, there's one set of platforms that the Google Stadia controller doesn't seem to work on. At least not widely or without serious issues. Namely, that's game consoles. So you can't simply plug in your controller to play on the latest Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo console. That may or may not come as something of a letdown if that's what you were hoping to accomplish here. But it does make quite a lot of sense. While Stadia's top competitors are cloud gaming platforms, it wouldn't make a lot of sense for the controller to work with its other competitors — consoles. But it does make sense for it to work with devices where Stadia is itself available. And as an HID, since not every device supported wireless play out-of-the-gate. Google may open that up later on, or it may be on the console makers to allow that. Some controllers from other consoles do work with Stadia in a wired fashion — or wirelessly, in a few instances on a few platforms. | Tesla, GM Hype Autonomous Cars, But Offer Automated Features (For Now) Posted: 11 Jan 2022 02:47 PM PST Cars can perform many maneuvers on their own safely, but they can't drive themselves yet, despite breakthroughs produced by AI. Since car bigwigs promised the arrival of autonomous cars in 2017, I check each year to see if they are already here. Tesla and General Motors (GM) recently grabbed the headlines for their self-driving options, but both manufacturers still insist that a human driver must remain alert and supervise the system in case they need to take back control suddenly. "What we have in the market today is automated cars not autonomous cars", Brian Moody, executive editor at Autotrader, told me by phone. "Autonomous car means you get in in the car and the car does everything. We don't have it yet." The Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE), which sets standards for the engineering industry, has defined six levels, ranging from Level 0 (no assistance) to Level 5 (full self-driving in all conditions). A vehicle's technology must reach all six before it is officially autonomous. Most new cars feature Level 1 technology, such as lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control. What are the options?Tesla Full self-driving (FSD beta) + AutopilotFSD beta is a system of driving assistance features, like automatically changing lanes and making turns. The software does not make Tesla vehicles fully autonomous. Elon Musk himself said during a 2019 earnings call that Teslas with FSD are "able to drive from one's house to work, most likely without interventions. So it will still be supervised, but it will be able to drive." It has sophisticated features like "smart summon" which lets drivers call their car from a parking spot to come pick them up, using their smartphone and the Tesla app like a remote control. FSD beta lets you choose from three driving "profiles" that dictate how the car will react to certain situations on the road. Each mode, "Chill," "Average" and "Assertive," varies in terms of aggressiveness. The profiles are described as a way "to control behaviors like rolling stops, speed-based lane changes, following distance and yellow light headway." The FSD software has also drawn a fair amount of scrutiny and criticism. The California Department of Motor Vehicles and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are investigating different aspects of Tesla's FSD development and technology. FSD also has a Beta tier, which includes even more advanced features. The company's standard driver assistance package is marketed as Autopilot and comes standard with all its new vehicles (the Model S, X, Y and 3). GM Ultra Cruise +Super CruiseThe Ultra Cruise feature is designed to be an upgrade over the company's current Super Cruise system, which allows hands-free driving on highways. GM describes Ultra Cruise as a "door-to-door" hands free driving system that will allow users to keep their hands off the wheel in 95% of all traffic situations. It will function on most roads, including city streets, subdivision streets and paved rural roads in addition to highways, without the need for pre-mapping. The exceptions include wherever road construction or other obstructions have led to changes that aren't yet reflected in the maps, or some particularly complex road configurations. The system may also struggle with some weather conditions and may not be able to operate in particularly bad outdoor conditions. Like Super Cruise, which only enables hands-free driving on highways, the new system is also geofenced, but it now includes 2 million miles of paved roads of all types including suburban and urban streets. It is based on a significantly more powerful compute platform and includes more capable sensors, including LIDAR. A driver-monitoring system will continue to be used to ensure the driver stays engaged. Mercedes-Benz Drive PilotIt's a Level 3 self-driving system, perhaps better called a "conditionally automated driving system." It allows the cars to drive themselves at up to 37 mph in heavy traffic on geofenced stretches of highway. When engaged, Drive Pilot takes over managing situational awareness. As a result, the system can handle unexpected traffic situations and can take evasive action if necessary. Drive Pilot will function only on pre-mapped, geofenced, closed-access highways. Ford BlueCruise + Co-Pilot360The feature allows a driver to operate hands-free on prequalified sections of divided highways. The driver's eyes must remain on the road. Toyota's Arene operating system would monitor safety systems and traffic information, as well as controlling basic car components like the steering wheel and breaks. It will compete with Volkswagen's upcoming "VW.OS" Honda is focusing on Level 3 autonomous systems, which enable the car to take full control, albeit only under very specific conditions, like low-speed driving in traffic. Google's Waymo is skipping Level 3 to focus on Level 4, which is full driverless autonomy within a geofenced perimeter. Why is it taking so long?In a word: Regulation. Industry and government officials need to agree on the definition of self-driving and then set safety standards, such as who is at fault if a self-driving car kills someone. Automakers must also convince the public. AAA surveys have shown more than 70 percent of the American public fears driverless cars. "The world is not ready yet," Moody told me. | Firefox Focus For Android Launches Total Cookie Protection Posted: 11 Jan 2022 02:45 PM PST  Firefox Focus, a privacy-focused mobile browser from Mozilla, has recently launched the Total Cookie Protection feature to its Android version. This feature will help users to prevent cross-site tracking. The issue of privacy in web browsers has become more critical. Today, we see that many browsers are focusing on privacy, and Firefox Focus is one of them. The Total Cookie Protection feature stores websites' cookies separately in "cookie jars." According to the designers of this feature, storing cookies separately can prevent sites from storing user information. Sites may sometimes store information about shopping patterns and pages visited and use it for advertising purposes and target audiences. "Our new feature, Total Cookie Protection, works by maintaining a separate "cookie jar" for each website you visit. Any time a website, or third-party content embedded in a website, deposits a cookie in your browser, that cookie is confined to the cookie jar assigned to that website, such that it is not allowed to be shared with any other website." Mozilla noted in its blog post. Firefox Focus makes cross-site tracking more difficultMozilla says that its Total Cookie Protection is one of the strongest privacy features it has ever developed. Also, this feature can counteract web tracking in the long run. Dates back to February 23, 2021, Mozilla announced the launch of its Total Cookie Protection alongside Firefox 86. Moreover, when the privacy mode is active on the Firefox browser, the feature is active by default. However, the Total Cookie Protection is not the first effort by Mozilla to tackle cross-site tracking. In Firefox 85, the company made some changes in the browser's network architecture to crack down on supercookies. Mozilla is striving to introduce more privacy-focused featuresMozilla just launched Firefox version 95 a month ago, and they could tackle some security flaws with the update. The company announced that the new update brings a new technology called RLBox that can tackle "security vulnerabilities in third-party libraries."
