Vaccine Mandates Come To Healthcare

Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index Surges To 14-year High In Q2 2021

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- The Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index for the second quarter of 2021 registered 4.16 on a 5-point scale (with 5 indicating high confidence and 1 indicating low confidence). The Q2 Index measurement, based on a June 2021 survey of 32 San Francisco Bay Area venture capitalists, jumped higher from the previous quarter's reading of 3.82 in its recovery from the pandemic low point of 2.33 in Q1 2020, now reaching a 14-year high in this quarterly survey.

The Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index for Q2 2021 registered 4.16 on a 5-point scale.

This is the 70 th consecutive quarterly survey and research report (since Q1 2004), and provides unique quantitative and qualitative trend data and analysis on the confidence of Silicon Valley venture capitalists in the future high-growth entrepreneurial environment. Mark Cannice, professor of entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of San Francisco School of Management, authors the research study each quarter.

In the new report, Dr. Cannice indicated that, "The high level of capital flows into ventures and the public markets buoyed confidence among the responding venture capitalists." For example, Dag Syrrist of Vision Capital credited his confidence to the "Gargantuan amount of capital required to be deployed, coupled with the continued low interest environment and the expanded investment opportunities resulting from permanent changes in business process and work environment as the economy reopens." Cannice also noted that the innovation cycle has been shortened by the pandemic. "The pandemic accelerated the need for technology in almost every aspect of our lives. There's no turning back now," said Prashant Shah of Monta Vista Capital.   

The Q2 2021 report does reflect the concerns of some venture capitalist respondents, however, with Bill Reichert of Pegasus Tech Ventures stating that, "Everyone knows we're in a bubble. Everyone knows this cannot go on forever. But no one seems to know how this will end, or when."

Taking into account the balance of venture capitalist commentary in the new survey along with industry trends, Dr. Cannice concluded the report by stating that, "Entrepreneurial spirit supported by a robust innovation ecosystem provide the path for a strong second half of 2021."

Посольство России в Турции опубликовало твит о том, что «российские самолеты помогают тушить пожары». Журналист Мурат Агирель в ответ: «Вы так говорите, как будто это помощь. Мы платим за эту "помощь" 1 300 000 лир каждый день».

Действительно, самолеты–амфибии арендованы и Турция платит деньги за их аренду.

Сейчас в Турции большой скандал по этому поводу. Как оказалось, Министерство лесного хозяйства заключило договоры аренды с Россией на эти самолеты, при том, что у турок есть такие самолеты собственного производства, но Минлесхоз не выделяло средства на их содержание и ремонт. И сейчас правительство получает на орехи от прессы, она не понимает, почему вместо развития собственного производства берутся в аренду иностранные самолеты, еще и за такие деньги?

Турецкие журналисты выяснили, что фактический поставщик самолетов – азербайджанский бизнесмен Физули Моллаев. Причем, по мнению СМИ, он предоставляет Турции Бе–200 по крайне завышенной цене.

NEW YORK, Aug. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Combate Global today announced record ratings with this past Sunday's late-night tentpole event on Univision, toppling the primetime delivery of longtime Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) industry leader, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), one day earlier.

The ratings performance marks the first time in history that another MMA organization achieved superior television ratings over the same weekend to the UFC on ESPN.

In a midnight ET/ 9 p.m. PT time slot on August 1, Combate Global's tentpole event averaged 946,000 P2+ viewers on Univision, including 464,000 viewers in the coveted A1849 demographic. 

By comparison, the UFC averaged 797,000 P2+ viewers, including 329,000 A1849 viewers, in primetime on ESPN on July 31.

Boys & Girls Clubs Of America Names Teen 'National Military Youth Of The Year'

ATLANTA, Aug. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Selected among outstanding regional finalists from Boys & Girls Clubs of America-affiliated military Youth Centers across the country and overseas, 18-year-old Victor O., of JB MDL-Ft Dix Youth Program has been named the 2021 National Military Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index Surges To 14-year High In Q2 2021

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- The Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index for the second quarter of 2021 registered 4.16 on a 5-point scale (with 5 indicating high confidence and 1 indicating low confidence). The Q2 Index measurement, based on a June 2021 survey of 32 San Francisco Bay Area venture capitalists, jumped higher from the previous quarter's reading of 3.82 in its recovery from the pandemic low point of 2.33 in Q1 2020, now reaching a 14-year high in this quarterly survey.

The Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index for Q2 2021 registered 4.16 on a 5-point scale.

This is the 70 th consecutive quarterly survey and research report (since Q1 2004), and provides unique quantitative and qualitative trend data and analysis on the confidence of Silicon Valley venture capitalists in the future high-growth entrepreneurial environment. Mark Cannice, professor of entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of San Francisco School of Management, authors the research study each quarter.

In the new report, Dr. Cannice indicated that, "The high level of capital flows into ventures and the public markets buoyed confidence among the responding venture capitalists." For example, Dag Syrrist of Vision Capital credited his confidence to the "Gargantuan amount of capital required to be deployed, coupled with the continued low interest environment and the expanded investment opportunities resulting from permanent changes in business process and work environment as the economy reopens." Cannice also noted that the innovation cycle has been shortened by the pandemic. "The pandemic accelerated the need for technology in almost every aspect of our lives. There's no turning back now," said Prashant Shah of Monta Vista Capital.   

The Q2 2021 report does reflect the concerns of some venture capitalist respondents, however, with Bill Reichert of Pegasus Tech Ventures stating that, "Everyone knows we're in a bubble. Everyone knows this cannot go on forever. But no one seems to know how this will end, or when."

Taking into account the balance of venture capitalist commentary in the new survey along with industry trends, Dr. Cannice concluded the report by stating that, "Entrepreneurial spirit supported by a robust innovation ecosystem provide the path for a strong second half of 2021."

Второй загранпаспорт позволяет оставаться в ЕС дольше, чем предусмотренные правилом 90 дней за полгода. Это нарушение. ЕС призывает Украину отменить действие вторых загранпаспортов. Об этом говорится в отчете Еврокомиссии в рамках механизма приостановления безвизовых режимов.

В документе отмечено, что Польша идентифицировала граждан Украины, которые имеют более одного законно оформленного паспорта, иногда с измененными личными данными, которые могли бы позволить им оставаться в ЕС за пределами ограничения 90 дней в любой 180–дневный период.

Поэтому в ЕС ожидают, что Украина не только прекратит выдавать два действующих паспорта для выезда за границу, но и отменит действие уже выданных дополнительных документов.


Оставим в стороне тему "некая внешняя структура, ЕС называется, требует от Украины смены внутренних регламентов выдачи загранпаспортов". Тема эта потому как тривиальна и про отсутствие субъектности (см. "Чехия требует от Бразилии ввести сквозную нумерацию людей с именем Педро, потому что мало ли в Бразилии педров–то").

Тут интереснее про мощнейшие и фактически используемые на практике Тихналогии.

В легендах и преданиях древних гномиков отчётливо прослеживается супертема, вкратце формулируемая так — "Если какую–то идею придумали и обрисовали, то считай что она уже реализована, притом в лучшем виде — спокойно сидим на жопе и ждём, когда готовый рабочий продукт в руки отдадут". Базируется она на заимствовании ложных механик компьютерных игр, где у любого открытия — условного суперлазера — есть стоимость в неких единицах, фиксированное время придумывания, и заранее известные плюсы и прочие характеристики. Чтобы начать придумывать суперлазер, который даст +50% на повреждение, надо 10.000 монет и 7 игровых дней — через это время он гарантированно будет, и можно прямо сразу прикидывать новую тактику, базирующуюся на том, что обновлённая армия будет куда как мощнее.

В результате имеем удивительную картинку — целые территории набиты свежепридуманными тезисами и смыслами, но на тему даже минимальной попытки практической реализации оных никто не шевелится, подчёркивая "я творец а не рабочий раб — оно как–то после того, как я его выдумал, должно самореализоваться–самосоздаться".

Вот есть ЕС. Там есть сети связи (так себе, средненькие — в Австрии, Италии и Болгарии до сих пор ISDN–доступ по двум медным парам до дома предлагают), есть тьма айтишных фирм, пишущих софт, есть тьма всякого прорывного–технологичного про бигдату.

А вот системы, которая на границах (ключевая штука по всем критериям) будет считать проходящих, и разбираться в ситуации "У Мыколы три паспорта с накладывающимися сроками действия, въехал он по паспорту А, отсчёт дней пребывания стартанул, и если он предъявит паспорт Б, у которого числа в номере другие, то отсчёт дней новый не нужен, это тот же Мыкола", оказывается, нет. Ниасилили. Сущностью является паспорт, поэтому три паспорта = три Мыколы. Так проще, так когда–то реализовали.

С домножением на украинскую коррупцию, когда сделать новый загран стоит 500–1000 долларов, всё превращается в прекрасный технологичный жабогадюкинг — у одних система погранконтроля из 1990–х, у других коррупция как в Африке. И те, кто сильнее — что логично — начинают в плане поиска решений с простейшей штуки — требуют от тех, кто слабее, решить вопрос административно, например паспорта лишние поотнимать.

Базовые предпосылки для решения есть. Технологии есть. А вот решения нет, потому что его надо не просто придумать–обрисовать коллективом воодушевлённых дизайнеров, а довести до практической реализации. А это хз как сделать в мире наяривания на креативность.

The vice president and senior credit officer at Moody's, Lillian Li, says that the global chip shortage will soon disappear, Fortune reports. The chip shortage has affected numerous industries, including consumer electronics and the automotive industry. The more it lasts, the more it hurts industries. But it seems that the influential countries in the semiconductor market are trying to solve this problem quickly.

According to Li, "All the world's advanced economies, including the U.S., the E.U., South Korea, and China have set out plans to advance capacity in the domestic semiconductor industry."

China is currently the largest importer of semiconductors in the world. Recent U.S. sanctions have prompted Chinese Communist Party officials to invest heavily in domestic production. China is now gaining more market share.

Li believes that developing domestic semiconductors has some pros and cons for China. "The advantages, such as avoiding geopolitical insecurities, are very apparent. But the risk of spurring overcapacity remains." Li added that China's investment in semiconductors increased 407% on an annual basis. The more counties invest, the sooner chip shortage would disappear.

To date, there have been many contradictory talks about when the chip shortage ends. Glenn O'Donnell, a vice president research director at advisory firm Forrester, has recently said that the chip shortage could last until 2023. As per the recent moves for supporting the industry, maybe this is the closest prediction to reality.

Moreover, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger has previously said that this could worsen if the United States and China can not develop a solution to improve relations and resolve trade disputes. Intel also wants to spend $20 billion on building two new semiconductor factories in the United States.

The semiconductor is a new commercial battlefield between west and east

Officials in influential countries are aware of the importance of the semiconductor market. They know that a country that loses this market has lost an important trump card in politics and economics.

Of course, the United States also has plans to support the semiconductor industry in the country. Dates back to June 2021, the U.S. Senate passed a bill to support the semiconductors with a $190 billion fund. Almost $52 billion is allocated to manufacturers to increase production.

Semiconductor warfare is not just between the United States and China. The European Union has set aside about $ 160 billion for the semiconductor industry. E.U. officials hope to increase their market share from the current 20% to 30% by 2030.

Scripps Taps Eric Ludgood To Lead Newsy

CINCINNATI, Aug. 5, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Award-winning news executive Eric Ludgood has been hired as the head of Newsy by The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ:  SSP), effective Aug. 16.

In this newly created role, Ludgood will be responsible for the overall leadership, editorial identity and programming for the national news organization. He will report to Kate O'Brian, head of the news group for Scripps Networks, and will be based in Atlanta.

Ludgood spent 13 years at CNN International in various leadership roles, including vice president for editorial. He played a pivotal role in several major stories during his time there, including the election of Nelson Mandela, the events of Sept. 11, the war in Afghanistan and the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004. Ludgood also led the CNN World Report unit.

Ludgood has directed content development and production for more than 60 hours of news programming each week at WAGA-TV, the FOX-owned and operated channel in Atlanta. He was executive producer of the investigative team whose reporting has garnered numerous awards, including a Peabody, for its examination of law enforcement use of field drug tests.
