CED Issues Statement Urging Congress & Administration To Swiftly Adopt Bipartisan Agreement On COVID-19 Relief Funding

WASHINGTON, Dec. 14, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The Trustees of the Committee for Economic Development of The Conference Board (CED)—business leaders from across the country, representing virtually every industry of the economy—urge Congress and the Administration to act now, before this session of Congress adjourns, to provide economic relief from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Early this year, our government responded quickly and cooperatively across the political aisle to enhance unemployment benefits; provide liquidity to small businesses; backstop the availability of credit; support state and local governments; address the public health crisis; and support the development of a vaccine and prepare for its distribution. Sadly, the pandemic has much outlasted the relief. And now several major pillars of that support are about to be dismantled, just as the pandemic has been surging across the country.

CED urges that follow-on legislation include the following essential funding to: 

  • Strengthen the health care system to deal with the new wave of infections, including essential funding for health care institutions, personal protective equipment, and acquisition, delivery, and administration of vaccines;
  • Extend unemployment compensation for the long-term unemployed, renew benefits for contractors, and augment benefits to provide greater replacement of lost wages;
  • Combat food and housing insecurity with greater SNAP benefits and funding for eviction and foreclosure abatement;
  • Assist states and municipalities by replacing their loss of revenues caused by the pandemic, which will merely allow the maintenance of needed services, including first responders;
  • Stabilize the childcare industry through a fund to keep providers open and thereby help parents to return to work;
  • Provide funding for schools to reopen safely, reimbursing them for the extraordinary costs including social distancing and sanitation;
  • Extend the reach of the Paycheck Protection Program to smaller businesses, and provide the necessary funding to keep businesses alive for the economic recovery; and
  • Help businesses to reopen by limiting COVID-19 infection liability for those who can demonstrate that they acted responsibly and in good faith.

The economy deteriorates with every passing day. Compromise is crucial. We ask you to find common ground and act now, before tragedy becomes catastrophe.

Stadia players finally get to have access to Ubisoft+, opening up the capability to stream around 100 games from Ubisoft on whatever device they play Stadia games on.

Whether that's the phone, Chromecast Ultra, or on PC through the Chrome browser. Ubisoft+ has been available for a couple of months now but until today it was only available through Amazon Luna.

Luna itself would cost $5.99. Then you'd need to pay another $14.99 on top of that for Ubisoft+.

Stadia is doing things a little bit differently here. As you can subscribe to Ubisoft+ to play the games it offers, but you don't need to be subscribed to Stadia Pro.

Ubisoft+ games will start to roll out to Stadia players today

Today marks the official rollout of Ubisoft+ on the Stadia platform. But it is worth noting that the service won't be available to all Stadia users immediately.

It will be live for some, but the full rollout won't be completed until December 16 according to Google. Which means it could be a couple of days before you're able to start streaming the big collection of Ubisoft games.

Once access does fully open up, you'll be able to stream both new and older games. Including Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, Watch Dogs, Watch Dogs 2, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, Ghost Recon: Wildlands and more.

All for just $15 a month which is a pretty good deal if you love Ubisoft titles. Especially since you can access the service with a Stadia Base account.

Ubisoft+ is still in beta

Anyone that is interested in signing up for Ubisoft+ can do so from Ubisoft+.com, but it's important to remember that this is still a beta version of the service.

Which means there may be bugs or small issues from time to time that need to be fixed. If you do sign up, you'll need to then link your Stadia account to the Ubisoft+ subscription before you can stream the games from your Stadia device.

Again though, keep in mind that the rollout only begins today and it won't be available to all Stadia users until December 16.

With Ubisoft+ any games you play will have cross-progression support across the platforms you access the service from. That being said Ubisoft does mention that this feature is also still in beta. And people's experiences could vary. While progression data could also be lost.

That means you should play the games on your main platform or device of choice first. Just in case this issue arises for you.

Этимология

По одной из версий, выдвинутой Максом Фасмером, слово «варежка» происходит от словосочетания «варяжская рукавица», вероятно, отражая факт заимствования этого предмета одежды у варягов. Однако неясно, в чем могла заключаться разница между "русским" и "варяжским" покроем простых однопалых перчаток.

По другой версии, слово «варежка» происходит от древнерусского глагола "варити" - "защищать", "оберегать"; тогда " варежки " - "оберегалки", "защитки" для рук (Лев Успенский).

По третьей версии, название варежки получили от процесса их обработки - вязаные варежки могли варить для придания большей плотности.

Варежки считались отличным подарком и часто передавались по наследству.Молодые девушки вязали варежки для понравившихся им молодых людей, о чем повествуют сохранившиеся народные песни и сказания.
