Huawei Allegedly Planning To Re-Release A 2019 Phone With Google Apps
Apr 29th 2020, 09:02, by Kristijan Lucic

Huawei P Smart 2020 image 1

Huawei is allegedly planning to re-release its 2019 mid-range phone with Google services. The device in question is the Huawei P Smart 2019, which will be named the P Smart 2020 this time around.

This information comes from Roland Quandt, a well-known tipster. He does note that the new model will offer a few design changes, USB-C charging, and more memory, but that's about it.

Huawei planning to re-release a 2019 phone with Android 9 Pie

The phone will also run Android 9 Pie out of the box, and Google services will be included. This phone will be available in a number of countries all over Europe, it has been noted. This is not official information just yet, so keep that in mind.

The source also shared the design of the upcoming phone. As you can see, its back side looks different from the one on the 2019 model. The phone will include a flat display with a dewdrop display notch.

Its bottom bezel will be considerably thicker than the rest of them, while all of its physical buttons will sit on the right. A capacitive fingerprint scanner will sit on the back of the phone, along with Huawei's branding.

The device will pack in two cameras on the back, and they will be vertically-aligned. Right below those two cameras, the company will include an LED flash. All of those sensors will be a part of the same camera module.

The phone will feature a 6.21-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) LCD display. The Kirin 710F will fuel this smartphone, and that is not exactly the newest chip that Huawei has to offer, far from it.

It will offer more RAM and storage than the 2019 variant

The 2019 variant of this phone included 3GB of RAM, while this model will pack in 4GB. It will also ship with 128GB of internal storage, which is upgraded from 64GB. The phone will also offer microSD card storage expansion.

The camera situation is unchanged. The phone will include a 13-megapixel main sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. A single 8-megapixel camera will be included on the front.

A 3,400mAh battery will be a part of this package as well, though this time around you'll use a Type-C USB port to charge it. The previous model included a microUSB port.

The phone will also include an NFC chip, Bluetooth 4.2, and a headphone jack. Android 9 Pie will be accompanied by Huawei's EMUI 9.1 skin, along with Google services.

The phone will ship in Aurora, Green, and Black color variants. We're not yet sure when will this phone make it to the market, but based on the report, it is expected to arrive soon. There you have it, it seems like Huawei is planning to re-release a 2019 phone, kind of, and the US ban definitely has something to do with it.

Apr 29th 2020, 08:45, by yackulic

Clash of Clans 1

Mobile videogames completely transformed the industry, allowing anyone with a smartphone to enjoy a wealth of highly entertaining videogames virtually anywhere. Today, much of the videogame industry's economic gains come from smartphone games. The great success of these videogames is due to the large number of casual players they attract, since a large part of the world's population owns a smartphone, and it is almost inevitable to want to download a game sometime.

Among all the types of mobile videogames that exist, one of the most outstanding and downloaded are the strategy ones, which motivate the player to use his ingenuity and logic to solve situations through concrete plans.

That said, below is a brief list of the top four strategy videogames that are available for free for Android devices.

Plants vs. Zombies

Plants vs Zombies

Plants vs. Zombies is a popular strategy videogame that has been around for many years and is characterized by its extremely fun and addictive gameplay. In Plants vs. Zombies, players will have to defend their house from a horde of zombies, and to achieve this, players will have a variety of different types of plants that will offer an incredible variety of different strategies for each situation, as zombies will use different methods to overcome your barrier.

This game consists of 50 levels in its Adventure mode, and is completely free on the Play Store.

Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans 1

Clash of Clans is one of the most popular Android videogames with over 500 million downloads on the Play Store. This videogame is recognized for being the one that started the fame of the genre of strategies based on the creation of villages or clans.

In Clash of Clans, players will have to create the best village and train their army in order to be victorious in wars against other enemy clans or against other players' villages online. It is also possible to create clans where different players can join together online to help each other by donating troops in their castle and being able to wage war with other players.

This videogame developed by Supercell is totally free, although it requires microtransactions to obtain some extra functionalities and special elements. Some players also choose to buy Clash of Clans account through account selling platform, as that way they can match more advanced players more quickly and enjoy everything the game has to offer.

Digfender

Digfender 1

This is another strategy videogame that is highly recommended. In Digfender, players will have the task of defending their base from various enemy attacks, which move underground. In order to avoid the passage of the enemies, players will have to dig underground to place obstacles there and prevent the enemies from advancing. In addition, minerals and coins can be found when digging, which will be key to improving the towers.

Like the previous games, Digfender is free, but also requires microtransactions to obtain certain advantages.

Mafia City

Mafia City

Mafia City is a strategy game quite similar to Clash of Clans, where players must create their own clan with the aim of becoming the leader of the Mafia. This game is different because it focuses on the world of the Mafia, so you will have to recruit all kinds of thugs, bikers and shooters. In addition, players will be able to move around in various types of vehicles, from vans to tanks.

Once a player has created his criminal organization, he will have to fight against other clans every day in order to increase his influence. Mafia City is available for free in the Play Store.

Samsung's Next-Gen Wireless Earbuds Could Be Called Galaxy BudsX
Apr 29th 2020, 08:24, by Sumit Adhikari

Samsung Galaxy Buds plus AM AH 6

The Galaxy BudsX could be Samsung's next pair of truly wireless earbuds. The South Korean company has just applied for a trademark for the moniker "Samsung BudsX" with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and the UK IPO.

The application itself doesn't reveal much, apart from the fact that these are a pair of wireless earbuds. The accompanying description further suggests that these earbuds will focus heavily on health and fitness-tracking features.

"Wireless headsets/earsets incorporating software for providing a fitness guide; Wireless headsets/earsets incorporating software for measuring distance, speed, time, changes in heart rate, activity level, calories burned," the description reads.

It's unclear if the Galaxy BudsX will be the successor to the Galaxy Buds+ or Samsung is planning to launch a separate fitness-focused earbuds lineup. Either way, we might see a new pair of Samsung wireless earbuds launch alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series.

Samsung applies for a trademark for Galaxy BudsX

Samsung is likely to launch a new pair of truly wireless earbuds as the Galaxy Buds+ follow-up alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series later this year. We already know the company is working on one with the codename "Bean," which refers to its kidney-shape design.

Now, Samsung applying for a trademark for BudsX suggests that those "Bean" earbuds would actually launch as Galaxy BudsX.

They reportedly carry the model number SM-R180, which is in line with the model number of the Galaxy Buds (SM-R170) and the Galaxy Buds+ (SM-R175). These buds are rumored to feature active noise cancellation (ANC) and cost less than $150.

However, nothing is set in stone yet. Samsung's recent trademark application doesn't even mention the Galaxy brand. It simply says "Samsung BudsX," although it's very much normal for a trademark. The "Bean" trademark also didn't feature the Galaxy brand.

The naming, in addition to the possibility of several fitness-tracking features, suggests that the new buds are a kind of successor to the Gear IconX from 2016. The Gear IconX were Samsung's fitness earbuds and came with 4GB of internal storage.

But the company has now dropped the Gear brand from its wearables in favor of the Galaxy name.

So whatever it names its upcoming earbuds, they'll certainly carry the Galaxy branding. Perhaps, the Galaxy BudsX will offer the best of both the Galaxy Buds+ and the Gear IconX in one package.

This is all speculation, of course. Things might get clearer as we approach closer to Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event, where we'll likely see the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2 break cover.

Amazfit X Is A Futuristic-Looking Smartwatch With A Curved AMOLED Display
Apr 29th 2020, 07:42, by Kristijan Lucic

Huami Amazfit X smartwatch image 9

Huami has just announced its new smartwatch, and listed it on Indiegogo, the crowdfunding platform. The name of this smartwatch is the Amazfit X, and it is actually quite futuristic-looking.

This smartwatch features a curved AMOLED display, and it doesn't look anything like a regular watch. The company has been teasing the arrival of this watch for a while now, and it's finally here.

The Amazfit X is a futuristic watch with a curved display

The Amazfit X features a 2.07-inch (206 x 640) AMOLED display which is touch-sensitive. That display, along with the watch's body, wraps around your wrist. The watch looks quite minimalistic, actually, and futuristic at the same time.

Huami says that it used 700°C hot bending FPC-connected three-piece motherboard in order to make this design a reality. The watch comes with a ton of customizable watch faces, and can track your steps without a problem.

Over 40 widgets are available on the watch, while a heart rate sensor is also something you'll find here. The watch band that you can see in the provided images is made out of silicone.

This watch also comes with a pressure-sensitive sensor, so there are more ways to interact with its display. The watch can also monitor your blood oxygen levels, thanks to the infrared light test.

GPS is included in the watch, and the same goes for GLONASS. The Amazfit X offers 9 versatile sports modes, and has water resistance up to 50 meters.

The Amazfit X comes with sleep tracking, and can tell you what your stress levels are. It can tell you if you're relaxed, or is your stress level normal, medium, or high.

Huami promises a 7-day battery life with this watch, even if you use heart rate monitoring at all times. This watch can, of course, receive notifications, track your workouts, and so on.

It weighs 39 grams, and comes in two color variants

It comes with a digital microphone, and a 205mAh battery. Bluetooth 5.0 LE is included here, while the watch weighs 39 grams. It measures 22.6 x 13.6mm, in case you were wondering.

The watch comes in two color variants, both of which are shown in the provided images. Those colors are the Eclipse Black and New Moon Gold.

The Amazfit X smartwatch is now available on Indiegogo, and you can back it if you want. This watch will come to life, as Huami collected 1,329-percent out of its goal at the time of writing this article, and there are still 30 days left.

The company managed to get more than enough cash in a heartbeat, it seems. You can back the project with $149+, as part of the so-called 'early bird' offer. The price tag fo the watch will be $329 once it goes on sale, though, so keep that in mind. You can save up quite a lot of cash.

Apps That Help Your Finances: Best of 2020
Apr 29th 2020, 07:18, by yackulic

AH money image 1

Part of being responsible with your money is about using the tools available to you to their full potential. When it comes to your computer and smartphone, you have a lot of programs that can help you get a better picture of what's happening with your money, and to determine the best course of action when you're feeling stuck. Because in the end, if you have the nagging feeling that you could be doing more about your money, you're not alone – and you're probably not wrong either.

YNAB

You Need a Budget – or YNAB for short – has been a leader in the personal finance market for quite a while now. The app has a sleek interface and a unique approach to its design, offering a guided path to becoming financially responsible and independent, and learning how to save properly. Even if you think that you have your money under control, you'd be surprised how much this tool can reveal that you wouldn't even expect in the first place. YNAB has been updated a lot over the years, and the app is still one of the favorites on this corner of the market. It also comes with an extensive mobile suite, so you can keep your finances in check on the go no matter where you are.

Mint

Another very popular app that's been out for a while, Mint is great for those who want to keep their accounts organized easily and visible together in one place. The company behind the app is already well-known on the financial market for other tools like TurboTax, and they have a strong interest in helping people understand how their money works better. Mint is very simple to get started with, and it doesn't take a lot to get your accounts integrated with the app. Once you've started, it takes very little to keep things running smoothly. You'll also have direct access to various nifty features such as the ability to look up your credit score, depending on certain conditions.

PocketGuard

And if you don't want something that complicated, you should give PocketGuard a try. The app has a more unique approach to its design, focusing on providing a simple, streamlined service that allows you to do a lot with very little input. It's free, and it can give you a comprehensive overview of your finances that can allow you to know exactly where you stand on the spending front. If you're going over your budget, it will be easy to know with the help of PocketGuard, and you won't even have to pay active attention to the app to make that happen. Another great thing about it is that the initial setup is very quick and painless, and the app can allow you to do a lot with very little. If you like what it has to offer, make sure to check out the more comprehensive solutions on the market though, as there is definitely no shortage of apps that can give you an even more in-depth look at your finances.

Personal Capital

Personal Capital is more aimed at those who want a good tool for investing, and the app is great for assisting users with their strategy and pointing them in the right direction. Personal Capital has been known for a while, and they offer a good way to see all your recent transactions grouped by category and other factors. You can add up your net worth and take advantage of other similar useful features, and the app is generally very nice for those who want to do as much as they can with their portfolio. Keep in mind that this is not an app for everybody, as only active investors are going to see real benefits in it. But for those who're actively involved in this market, Personal Capital is easily one of the best choices out there, all things considered.

Wally

A great little tool for those who want to keep things organized with minimal hassle, Wally has various features that can streamline the handling of your personal finances and make the process fast and smooth. One of the most commonly praised features is the ability to take photos of your receipts which are then directly read into the app, without requiring any effort on your side. Wally is great in many ways like that, relieving you of a lot of work so that you can focus on the one goal that really matters: keeping your finances in check. Wally has a great track record among users who have trouble staying consistent with entering their data, and it's the perfect app to give you that extra push you might need.

Excel

Yes, Excel! The good old spreadsheet application by Microsoft is still one of the top solutions on this market, all things considered. Sure, it might not be as straightforward to use as some other programs available, but that doesn't matter once you've learned the inner workings of its data manipulation. Excel is truly one of the best tools to build your own spreadsheets and customize them exactly to your needs, and the application offers a lot under the hood for those willing to dig. It does take a while to master it though, so be prepared to spend some time studying it in detail before you're ready to use it properly. But once you're there, you probably won't want to look at anything else.

These are some examples to get you started. There are plenty of other great apps including ones that are for more specific things like insurance or fuel price tracking. 2020 may not have been a great year in some regards, but at least when it comes to personal finance software, it's given us lots of viable options. It's a good idea to explore this market in as much detail as you can, because you never know when you might come across something that will completely change the way you look at your money. It only takes one small step to get you moving in the right direction, and you'll never want to look back after you've gone there!

WhatsApp Video Chat Limit Climbs To Eight In New Update
Apr 29th 2020, 07:07, by Deidre Richardson

Whatsapp AH NS 02 1

Facebook acquisition WhatsApp is giving users more of what they want, with a new update that increases the video chat limit from four to eight people.

WhatsApp video chat limit climbs to eight in new update

WABetaInfo made the announcement on April 27th with the words, "The WhatsApp for Android web release allows now 8 participants in group calls!" Group video chats and group calls will see the new 8-person limit, up from the longstanding 4-person limit.

What this means is that users can have double the fun on WhatsApp with double the people. The more, the merrier, right?

Why the limit increase?

The current pandemic and social distancing rules worldwide have many employees working from home. Families aren't able to gather for family reunions, vacation, and special occasions such as birthdays and wedding anniversaries (or even weddings).

Facebook wants WhatsApp to remain on the competitive edge with other services such as its own Facebook Messenger, Skype, Zoom, and others. Increasing the video and group call limit will allow more family members and friends to connect online simultaneously.

Many video chat and call services have been considered luxuries in the past. The pandemic has everyone at home with no other means of communication outside of landline phones, smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart TV video chatting services. WhatsApp has a real opportunity to add to its user base while making veteran users even happier with the service.

How to get the new WhatsApp 8-person limit

The question on every user's mind is, "how to get the new WhatsApp 8-person limit?" The new update is available for Android and iOS. However, Android users can only download the new update on the Web at the moment.

As WABetaInfo says, the update, coming in at version number 2.20.141, is only available as a web release. The official update from Google Play is not yet ready for primetime.

Still, interested Android users can head to WhatsApp on the web and grab the new update ahead of schedule. There could prove to be some bugs here and there, so waiting for the official Google Play release may be the best option.

How does WhatsApp stack up to other video chat/calling services?

WhatsApp provides for 8 people in its group calling and video chat. In contrast, Google's Duo video chat and group calling app now supports 12 people at once. Google Duo supported the same number as WhatsApp now does last year. Skype increased its group chat/call limit from 25 to 50 people in April 2019.

Facebook has the video chat/group calling scene on lock. As of this week, the Zuckerberg-led company is introducing Facebook Messenger Rooms to allow up to 50 people to chat with no time limit.

Messenger Rooms users won't even need to have the Facebook Messenger app downloaded to join in a video chat. Facebook says it plans to integrate Messenger Rooms with WhatsApp in the coming weeks.

Spotify's New Wellness Playlists Aim To Bring You Peace And Positivity
Apr 29th 2020, 00:23, by Justin Diaz

Spotify Daily Wellness

Personal wellness is an important thing in life that more people need to take into account and Spotify's new wellness playlists can help. At least that's the idea.

They won't be extremely helpful to everyone of course, because personal wellness is different for everyone. But if your idea of personal wellness is being mindful of things like staying positive and getting a little bit of peace, these might do the trick for you.

Spotify's new wellness playlists are already live and you can find them in both the app and on the website. The new Spotify playlist also updates twice daily. You'll find new content in the playlist via the morning update and again in the evening update. As each time the content is tailored to fit the time of day.

Spotify's wellness playlists are a mix of things geared towards positivity & mindfulness

Spotify is generally used for streaming music. But the wellness playlists don't just contain tracks that can help with your wellness.

They're actually a mix of both positive and upbeat music and motivational podcasts. You'll see both the motivational podcasts and the music in both daily time slots. And, each version of the playlist has hours of content according to Spotify.

Meaning you should have enough there to keep you listening for a good portion of your day. If that's what you're looking for.

The music in the playlists is personalized

Spotify's best feature, or one of the best features, is the way it personalizes music tracks for listeners. This doesn't stop with the new Daily Wellness playlist.

Though it does contain positive music to fit the overall wellness theme, it's still personalized to you. So just because one person may have something with more of an uplifting pop sound, that doesn't mean that you'll get the same thing.

You will in fact get music that is more your style. Based on your listening habits. Keep in mind though that some types of music may not fit this wellness theme and therefore may not be included.

Chances are, you aren't going to see anything from Five Finger Death Punch surface in the playlist alongside podcasts like Daily Quote. That being said, if listening to Five Finger Death Punch makes you feel positive and uplifted to get through the day, then by all means put it on.

This is all about your personal wellness after all. Once the routine updates for the evening, things switch up to podcasts and music that is designed to help you relax and get ready for a good night's rest.

Google Looks At Separating Chrome, Chromebooks For Security
Apr 28th 2020, 23:37, by Daniel Golightly

Chrome Logo acer 315 01 AH 2019

Google appears to be considering the separation of the Chrome browser from Chrome OS on Chromebooks in pursuit of security. That's based on recent reports centered on an experimental feature impacting how the browser is updated on the platform. More directly, it would allow Chrome updates to be delivered separately from updates to the OS itself.

Now, the update for this appears behind a hidden flag setting at Google's 'chrome://flags' URL. Specifically, that's a feature dubbed LaCrOS and found via a search for '#lacros-support'.

The new project's initial appearance is as a "LaCrOS" variant of the browser itself. So Google has it showing up entirely separately from the standard Chrome app on Chromebooks. As might be implied by its experimental nature, the icon itself is entirely yellow in color too. That's keeping in line with the Chrome Canary icon, which serves as the front-line release channel for new features.

But that does appear to be part of a larger plan, with that initial differentiation intended to help developers work with the new project browser. Google could ultimately roll the code differences that make the separation work into the pre-installed, more common variant of the browser. The project is still in its earliest stages, so it isn't immediately obvious which direction Google will go. And that's if the project continues at all.

The purpose here isn't necessarily clear

The exact purpose of the browser change isn't immediately clear either. Comments from Googlers associated with the project offer some insight but that's somewhat contradictory.

On the one hand, at least one Googler indicates that the underlying purpose is to provide continuous delivery of Chrome's latest features to 'old systems'. In effect, this would mean it acts as a Chrome Canary-like browser in the sense that it delivers near-nightly updates to Chrome for systems that would otherwise not be able to receive them.

That includes Chromebooks but it would also make LaCrOS a developer-focused project as opposed to being useful for end-users.

The other possibility posited in response to that purpose is more simple. Namely, it's that separating Chrome OS from Chrome will deliver consistency. With that as a central purpose for this project, there are quite a few more possibilities in terms of benefits. Not least of those is the fact that it would make Chrome OS less tied to updates to Chrome itself.

What would this mean for the security of Google Chrome users on Chromebooks?

Now, Google may also have another reason for separating Google Chrome from the OS underpinning Chromebooks and that's chiefly related to security. Chrome OS devices only receive updates for between five to eight years from their initial launch date. Once those updates end, so do updates to the Chrome browser — unless users download the mobile variant from the Google Play Store.

As a result, Chromebook users not only stop receiving new OS features. The Chrome browser also gradually becomes less secure over time, as it's still being updated on other platforms. That's a problem that would all but cease to exist if LaCrOS is developed and eventually implemented in Chrome for Chromebooks.

Acquire Easy Silver In Black Desert Mobile With The New Trading System
Apr 28th 2020, 23:04, by Justin Diaz

Black Desert Mobile Merchantry

Black Desert Mobile is continuing strong in 2020 with yet another patch update and this one includes a new way to make silver more easily.

It's a new trading system called merchantry, and it's live in the game now for players to check out. Like many of the game's newly added pieces of content over the last few patches, merchantry isn't something you can dive into immediately.

There are a few requirements to getting things up and going. But, once you have those all lined up you can begin trading in Black Desert Mobile for silver and other rewards.

Use the new Black Desert Mobile trading system to earn large amounts of silver

Ready to make more silver than you know what to deal with? Sure you are. So let's get to it.

Before you can begin with that though there are a few things to know about the merchantry system. First and foremost, you can't even access it until you defeat Hexe Marie.

Once that's over with, you can enter the merchantry system from the menu inside of the game. You will also need a few other things if you're going to start trading.

You'll need a couple of horses in your stable. You need at least two in there to start, but you can have more. You will also need a horse to pull your wagon which is needed to travel between the different towns. Allowing you to engage in trade with the various products of the different areas.

Of course you also need a wagon to carry the goods you're attempting to trade. Lastly you need to build a trading post in your camp before you can begin using merchantry.

A tournament for Season 2 of the Ramoness arena is here for high-level players

Players looking to dive deep into more PvP content now have the Ramoness Arena's second season tournament to content with.

This is designed for high-level players, so you might want to avoid it if you're just starting out in the game. Once you have a little time under your belt adventuring though, jump in and give it a go. Because you can snag some pretty nice rewards.

More importantly, this is a limited time event so it won't be sticking around forever. It's a world championship tournament so expect there to be loads of players who are at their best vying for victory. In this PvP tournament mode you will team up with two other adventurers and face off against another team of three. You need to register to participate, and registration opens today.

Upgrade Your Work From Home Setup With The Razer Huntsman Elite
Apr 28th 2020, 22:11, by Justin Diaz

Razer Huntsman Elite

Razer today has announced that its Huntsman Elite keyboard is now the number one selling gaming keyboard in the US.

Which means there are a lot of people that love this keyboard. Now, this is a gaming keyboard so, it's value is probably up there for gamers more than anyone else.

But, with more people staying at home these days and working out of their bedroom or home office, not to mention gaming more, now is the perfect time to upgrade whatever keyboard you have in the house. And the Razer Huntsman Elite stands above the rest it seems.

The Razer Hunstman Elite soars above all other gaming keyboards based on sales

There's no doubt that Razer believes in its own products and that it firmly believes that the Huntsman Elite is the best gaming keyboard you can buy.

It isn't just tooting its own horn here though. This claim is based on research from the NPD Group, which tracked US sales for gaming keyboards and found that sales of the Huntsman Elite surpassed all other options on the US market.

Considering how many gamers are out there in the US, that's a pretty impressive accomplishment. Even more so when you think about how many other great options are out there for gaming keyboards.

There was a time when Razer was the top dog more because it was one of the only good options out there. That isn't to say it hasn't always had good gaming keyboards. It's just more impressive now that there are a lot more exceptional options available to consumers.

Prepare to pay up for the quality

The Huntsman Elite might be the number one gaming keyboard in the US but it certainly isn't inexpensive. On the contrary it's actually quite pricey. It normally retails for $199, but you can grab it on Amazon for $169 right now.

You'll be paying up to get this keyboard into your own home setup, but the features are worth it according to gamers across the country. Most notably might be the optical mechanical switches. Which Razer itself created and debuted on this particular keyboard.

They aren't the only good thing about the keyboard though. You'll also find nice big buttons for media controls. So you can adjust the volume for anything really easily. There's even a pause/play button. Need we say more?

Ok, we will. The Huntsman Elite also comes with an ergonomic magnetic wrist rest. Which makes it extremely easy to take off and put on depending on whether or not you want to use it on a situational basis.

There's plenty more to love to, but the fact that it's the number one gaming keyboard in the US kind of speaks for itself.

OnePlus 8 Users Can Now Play Stadia Games On The Phone
Apr 28th 2020, 20:19, by Justin Diaz

Stadia logo AM AH 1

If you've scored yourself a OnePlus 8 and you're a Stadia user, get ready to play some games on the phone. Like right this second.

Because support for the OnePlus 8 is now live and Stadia officially works on this device. It will also be the first out of a series of OnePlus phones to gain support. Which OnePlus announced during its OnePlus 8 live event earlier in April.

This is all rather good timing, too. Because Stadia just received a crop of new games today, including PUBG (which is currently free for Pro members), and Pro is still free for users for the first two months.

OnePlus 8 support went live last week

According to a user on the Stadia subreddit named u/Ealesy101, support for playing games on the OnePlus 8 has been available for the past four to five days.

Specifically the OnePlus 8 Pro for this poster in particular, though the OnePlus 8 was likely available at the same time. And chances are that there are some OnePlus 8 users out there that have been enjoying their lineup of games since at least the weekend.

The OnePlus 8 is just the latest phone to gain support. With Google having added support for a whole host of new phones beyond its own Pixel lineup earlier this year. Including options like the Galaxy S20 and the ROG Phone II.

You'll still need to plug in your Stadia controller if you use one

Stadia support is great. And more new phones allowing users to play games on mobile is an excellent improvement.

If you have a OnePlus 8 you will still need to plug in your Stadia controller though. If you use one in the first place. Unfortunately, the Stadia controller still doesn't support wireless play on phones or in Chrome.

Hopefully that's something Google adds in the near future. Seeing as it wasn't part of today's Stadia Connect live stream. You do have options though if you want or need to have wireless play.

Quite simply, you can just use another controller. And if you're playing Stadia games on the phone you really should be anyway. Because the option is there and Android phones support the likes of the DualShock 4, the Xbox One Wireless, and a very wide array of other Bluetooth gamepads.

The Stadia controller is nice and all because of the Stadia-specific features. But until you can use it with phones wirelessly, enjoy your Stadia games on the phone with any number of other options.

Rock Of Ages 3 & 10 Other Games Revealed In Today's Stadia Connect
Apr 28th 2020, 19:29, by Justin Diaz

Stadia controller

Google revealed a ton of new games in its first Stadia Connect event of the year, one of them being Rock Of Ages 3: Make & Break alongside ten other new titles.

Some of the games are already available to play, like PUBG, Monopoly (which wasn't in the Connect video but it is available), Octopath Traveler, and Get Packed. Meanwhile others are being released in May and beyond. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for instance is launching this Fall.

Following the games that are available as of today, the next game to reach Stadia will be Zombie Army 4: Dead War, which is launching on May 1. This will be a newly available free title for Pro members too.

After it leaves the Pro lineup, it'll be available for $49.99. So make sure to snag it while you don't have to pay for it if you're looking to save a little bit of money.

Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break launches on Stadia in June

Tower Defense games can be a lot of fun and now you'll have one on Stadia with Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break.

The game will launch officially in June, though at the moment there is no set in stone release date for Stadia. It will however release on June 2 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. So there's a chance that it will launch on Stadia on the same day.

In Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break, the goal of the game is to create your levels and ensure that they stay in tip top shape while you break everyone else's down.

That's only one aspect of the game though and there's more to it than just competitive online play. There's also a story mode for people who want to enjoy gameplay that's a bit less hectic. There's also a Time Trials mode if you want some of that arcade nostalgia.

Look out for Wave Break, Crayta, and Embr

In addition to the above-mentioned games, players will also get additional games coming this year. Some of them this Summer.

For instance, Embr, which enters an early access program on May 21. The game will also be available on PC at the same time. Beyond Embr, there's also Wave break, an upcoming skateboarding game that allows you to use guns (for some purpose), while skateboarding around various aquatic locations using boats.

Lastly there's Crayta, which sounds a whole lot like a PS4 Dreams-style offering. With Crayta you can create your own multiplayer games that you can then share with other players. They can play your games too, and you can in turn play games created by others.

If you missed the Stadia Connect video from this morning when it was live, you can view the video below.

Save $100 On The Motorola One Hyper Android Smartphone
Apr 28th 2020, 19:06, by Alexander Maxham

61cvCgKTleL AC SL1000

Need a new smartphone for cheap? Well, you can pick up the Motorola One Hyper for just $299 in this sale. That's good for $100 off of its regular price.

This smartphone is GSM compatible only. So it will work on AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, but not Verizon and Sprint. It also does not support 5G.

The Motorola One Hyper  is a pretty impressive looking device from the company. It sports a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display, without any notches or hole punches. And that's because Motorola has opted for a pop-up selfie camera here.

This is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This is expandable with a micro SD card slot as well. There's a fingerprint reader available on the Motorola One Hyper, for quick authentication in apps and for unlocking your phone.

Motorola is using a 4000mAh capacity battery on the One Hyper. Which should definitely keep this one going. Especially since this is a FHD+ display with a Snapdragon 675 – which is a really battery efficient processor. And if that's not enough, Motorola's TurboCharger is included in the box for some quick charging. The included charger does 15W, but this is capable of supporting up to 45W.

The Motorola One Hyper  has three rear cameras, with a main 64-megapixel sensor. There is a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 8-megapixel telephoto sensor available. Which should give you some really good looking pictures out of this camera. It, unfortunately does not do slow motion or 4K60 though.

Finally, the Motorola One Hyper  also has a headphone jack. Something you don't see too often on smartphones in 2020.

You can pick up the Motorola One Hyper  unlocked from Amazon today by clicking here. This price is not going to last long, so you'll want to grab it before it's gone.

Four New Games Come To Stadia Today Including PUBG
Apr 28th 2020, 18:13, by Justin Diaz

Stadia Controller 2

Stadia is getting a new crop of games today including PUBG (Player's Unknown Battlegrounds), the popular battle royale title.

In addition to PUBG, popular RPG from Square Enix 'Octopath Traveler' is also available today, as is Get packed and Monopoly. Of today's games, PUBG is definitely the strongest title out of sheer popularity.

But Octopath Traveler is a real sleeper hit that any RPG fan should definitely check out. If you're looking for more of a lighthearted co-op game, then Stadia-First 'Get Packed' or Monopoly may be the perfect options for you. Especially now with all the extra time you're probably spending at home these days.

PUBG is free for Stadia Pro members now, but will eventually cost $30

If you're a Stadia Pro member this month then you should grab PUBG for free while you can. Because eventually it will cost you $30 to buy the base game.

Tack on some extra cash if you want the Cold Front survivor pass and the Stadia Exclusive skin set. Which comes with the base game as a bundle in the Pioneer Edition for $40.

There's also numerous add-ons you can pick up for various amounts, and the $90 Chicken Dinner Edition which comes with a whole lot more content. Your best value is to pick up the free offering today which is the Pioneer Edition, and then grab any extra add-ons separately as you'll spend less money this way.

The game also supports cross-platform play. It isn't mentioned which platforms Stadia users can play with, but one could assume that it's with other consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. Maybe even PC.

Get Packed is a steal at $20

You can't get much cheaper than free, which is why PUBG is a good value right now. But comparing its upcoming price to the launch price of Get Packed, Get Packed is a steal.

$19.99 nets you this zany co-op title that supports up to four players simultaneously. It also has a single-player campaign mode that you can dive into. Which honestly is recommended. This will give you a way to become more familiar with the game before playing with friends, and give you an edge once you do.

For the more story-oriented fans, Octopath Traveler is all the game you'll need. There's tons of hours of content here and if you're up for that, snag the game at $59.99 on the Stadia store right now. It also fits really well on phones, making it a great on-the-go Stadia title.

The 16-inch MacBook Pro comes with the ninth-generation Intel Core i7 six-core processor, with 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and the AMD Radeon Pro 5300M graphics and GDDR6 memory. Making it super powerful and great for those that do some video editing or are hardcore users.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 might not be the cheapest option on this list, but it is the best value. Even at $1199 – there are cheaper models, but they have been out of stock for weeks now.

The Surface Pro 7 comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, that makes it turn into a tablet. It also has a kickstand on the back, making it easy to work from anywhere. Even with it sitting on your lap.

Internally, this particular model has the Intel Core i5 processor, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage as well.

ASUS ZenBook 13

ASUS ZenBook 13

The ASUS ZenBook 13 isn't the cheapest laptop out there, but it is the best budget-friendly laptop, at $700.

Internally, it has an Intel Core i5-8265u processor. Along with 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and 512GB M.2 PCIe SSSD storage here.

It also has a full suite of ports. Including HDMI, USB-C, WiFi 802.11 AC and a micro SD card reader. That is really clutch, especially for creatives, as most laptops have opted to get away from the SD card reader. So good to see it here.

The battery life is pretty good here too, with about 10 hours of mixed usage. Streaming will get you around 7 hours. And of course, this laptop has RGB, because it wouldn't be a gaming laptop without it.

Acer Spin 1 SP111-33-C6UV

Acer Spin 1 SP111-33-C6UV

Google Pixelbook Go

Google Pixelbook Go

Perhaps the best of the laptops on this list for work from home, is the Pixelbook Go. Especially if all you need to use a laptop for is the internet. Since this has Chrome OS on-board and also offers a really great look and feel. It is also super light weight.

Now, the Pixelbook Go comes in a number of variants, but the cheapest one that's $649, comes with the Intel Core M3 processor, 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage on-board. That is pretty powerful, actually for a Chromebook, but you can also upgrade. All the way up to an Intel Core i7 chipset with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Keep in mind that Chromebooks just have Chrome inside, and Android Apps. This is not an entire operating system, like a Windows or Mac laptop would have.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Comes To Stadia This Fall
Apr 28th 2020, 17:27, by Justin Diaz

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Stadia

Google held it's first Stadia Connect of the year and it included some pretty big news, as Google announced an official partnership with EA that will culminate with multiple games, beginning with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

This was one of 2019's biggest hit games. So this is a big pull for Stadia. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on Stadia will be followed by Madden and FIFA, two more of EA's biggest franchises.

There are no exact times of release for either of the sports titles. All Google and EA have said is that both games would be landing sometime this Winter. That means each one should be available before 2020 is over though.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order lands on Stadia this Fall

For fans of the Star Wars franchise, it'll still be a while before the game is available to play on Stadia. This Fall could be as early as mid-September though. So realistically that may only be about four months.

That's still quite a while to wait, but it's better than waiting the entire year. Also worth keeping in mind is that there are going to be plenty of games landing between now and then.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is bound to be a Stadia hit. But it's also potentially landing around the same time as Cyberpunk 2077. A game which launches in September after being pushed back from its initial April release date, with Stadia as a confirmed platform.

So it may steal some of the thunder from the popular EA-published title. If not most of it.

More games are coming in 2021

EA confirmed that it's launching five games altogether as part of its Stadia partnership. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order arrives this Fall, with Madden and FIFA coming this Winter.

That means there are two games left that are part of the partnership that have yet to be announced. While it could really be anything, chances are more likely it'll be something from EA's AAA lineup.

Possible franchise titles could include Need For Speed, Battlefield, The Sims, SimCity, and even Dragon Age. Plants Vs Zombies and Titanfall are two other EA games that could make the cut. But another likely title could be Apex Legends. One of the more popular battle royale games that's available on multiple platforms.

Out of the numerous big-name publishers that have released games for Stadia, EA is one of the biggest that prior to today had not been involved. EA is also one of the biggest publishers on the planet, so a Stadia deal is a big win for Google.

Now all that's left is for Google to win over Activision-Blizzard. Which would be a major improvement on future available titles especially if Call of Duty was one of them.

Verizon Extends Late Fee, Termination Waiver In Light Of COVID-19
Apr 28th 2020, 17:17, by Daniel Golightly

Verizon AH NS 04 1

Verizon is now extending its waiver of late fees and terminations to keep customers connected in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. For customers who notify the company, those fees and line cancellation will now be extended through June 30.

The overall goal here is to ensure that customers can stay in contact with loved ones and work. More directly, that's even if they can't pay their bills due to circumstances stemming from ongoing stay-at-home and shelter-in-place orders.

In the US alone, as many as 960,916 confirmed cases have been reported according to WHO. It's resulted in as many as 49,170 deaths, as of this writing. Those numbers will still be rising, although the extent of that is less certain, for weeks, months, and possibly years. But the figures don't account for job losses, school closures, and other disruptions. Those are likely to continue over a similar timescale as well.

Verizon's extension applies across the board, up to its offerings to small businesses. So customers on its network will undoubtedly want to take advantage of Verizon's extension and other measures and those of other carriers.

What exactly is this extending?

Now, Verizon isn't the only company offering a reprieve for its users in the wake of the global pandemic. This measure is part of a larger "Keep Americans Connected" pledge from the FCC. Verizon, AT&T, Charter, CenturyLink, Comcast, Cox, Sonic, Sprint, and T-Mobile — among others — signed onto the pledge last month.

The response from carriers isn't necessarily new either. Verizon and others have historically offered concessions to customers to keep everybody connected during natural disasters. That's held true for hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, and other events. Moreover, several of the carriers, including Verizon, are active participants in ensuring that emergency responders are connected through disasters.

There are a few differences with this response since a pandemic is effectively new ground for carriers. Not only is the ongoing health crisis impacting the economy and causing the cancellation of events — mobile or otherwise. The impacts of Coronavirus, as indicated above, are ongoing and are impacting a much wider swath of the US.

The economic implications are that businesses are shut down and users are out of work nationwide. That leaves consumers unable both to travel and to work — leaving little recourse for keeping communication open. The FCC's request counters that. It asks both carriers and internet service providers to not cancel service for their customers and not to impose service fees that could compound economic stresses.

Struggling Verizon users will need to notify the company of their hardships to get the waiver

Verizon does specify that its customers will need to notify the company about their hardships. That means that users will need to visit the appropriate page — more information on that can be found here — or call to take full advantage of the extended waiver. They'll also want to pause their auto-pay schedule on their Verizon account if they've set that up. That applies to postpaid wireless, residential, and small business customers with 50 lines or fewer.

Phone Comparisons: OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra
Apr 28th 2020, 16:28, by Kristijan Lucic

AH OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

It's time to compare the OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. These two phones are the best OnePlus and Samsung have to offer at the moment. The Galaxy S20 Ultra was announced back in February, while the OnePlus 8 Pro arrived earlier this month. Both phones are quite compelling, and quite pricey, so we'll try to figure out which one is best for you.

As per usual, we'll compare these two phones across a number of categories. OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra: Design

In terms of the design, the two are somewhat similar, and yet different. Both devices feature a frame made out of metal. The OnePlus 8 Pro includes glass on the back, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra utilizes ceramic instead. That is one reason why the S20 Ultra is considerably heavier than the OnePlus 8 Pro. The OnePlus 8 Pro weighs 199 grams, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra is quite hefty at 222 grams.

Both phones have almost no bezel, and both include display camera holes. The OnePlus 8 Pro's display camera hole is placed in the top-left corner. The Galaxy S20 Ultra's is centered at the top of the display. Both of those display holes are quite small, though, and chances are that not many people will be bothered by them.

Both devices include curved displays, though the OnePlus 8 Pro's is much more curved than the one on the S20 Ultra. They have four cameras on the back, each, though those cameras are differently-placed. The OnePlus 8 Pro's cameras are centered in the upper portion of the phone's back. The Galaxy S20 Ultra's sit in the top-left corner of the phone's back. The Galaxy S20 Ultra's camera module is definitely larger, and it protrudes a bit more than the OnePlus 8 Pro's.

Both of these devices are quite slippery. Most of you will probably want to protect your investment, and apply a case on them. Now, as to which of the two we prefer, well… this is a tie in our eyes. We prefer the placement of the display camera hole on the Galaxy S20 Ultra, but on the flip side, the OnePlus 8 Pro's back looks much nicer, and the phone is considerably less heavy. The Galaxy S20 Ultra is nearly impossible to use with one hand without being annoyed while doing so. It is taller, wider, thicker, and heavier than what OnePlus has to offer.

Winner: Tie

OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra: Display

What about the display? Well, truth be said, these two phones have amazing displays. These two panels are amongst the best in the industry, if not the best ones. The OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch QHD+ (3168 x 1440) Fluid AMOLED display. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra rocks a 6.9-inch QHD+ (3200 x 1440) Dynamic AMOLED display. Both panels are huge, and both are curved. They do offer a slightly different aspect ratio, though.

Both of these displays offer 120Hz refresh rate. The thing is, 120Hz refresh rate and QHD+ resolution work at the same time only on the OnePlus 8 Pro. If you set 120Hz refresh rate on the Galaxy S20 Ultra, your resolution will automatically switch to fullHD+. The company is working on optimizing that, so that you can use both at the same time, though. At least that was the case at the time of writing this comparison.

Both displays support HDR10+ content, and both are protected by the Gorilla Glass 6. In the case of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, it's the Gorilla Glass 6. In the case of the OnePlus 8 Pro, it's either Gorilla Glass 5 or 6, we're not sure. The bottom line is, both of these are great panels, in practice. They offer extreme sharpness, they're quite bright, and the blacks are truly deep. Both displays are color-accurate, though you can play around with that in the settings. Colors are punchy, and viewing angles are great as well.

We won't nitpick, so we'll say they're tied. Some OnePlus 8 Pro panels do have some issues at the moment, at the time of writing this review, though they'll be fixed soon via updates. The Galaxy S20 Ultra's 120Hz + QHD+ issue will also be fixed via an update. So, these two displays are in the same league in terms of quality, there's no doubt about that. It's also worth noting that both are manufactured by Samsung.

Winner: Tie

OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra: Performance

So, both of these phones are flagship-grade devices, so you'd expect great performance out of them, right? Well, you should, and you'll be glad to know that they deliver. Both phones are really smooth in pretty much every way. Each of these two phones can handle even the most demanding games from the Play Store with ease. Regular tasks such as media consumption, app switching, browsing, taking photos, etc., are a piece of cake for these two devices.

OnePlus 8 Pro 1 AM AH 16
OnePlus 8 Pro: Display

Both of them are equipped with the best processor Qualcomm has to offer, the Snapdragon 865, and both deliver 5G. The European and Indian Galaxy S20 Ultra models do come with the Exynos 990, though. Both phones include LPDDR5 RAM, and plenty of it. All that, in addition to Android 10, and custom skins, equals really great performance out of both smartphones, no doubt about that.

Having all that in mind, there is some difference between them. Even though both perform admirably, the OnePlus 8 Pro does feel a bit smoother. That's hard to deny once you use both of these phones. It just feels as if OnePlus did a better job with optimizations, as even the company's animations feel smoother. We've also stumbled upon one or two hiccups from the Galaxy S20 Ultra, which is almost not worth mentioning, but there you go. We'll give a very small advantage to the OnePlus 8 Pro here, even though both are great in this regard.

Winner: OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra: Battery

If battery life is important to you, and it should be, then you'll be glad to know that there's nothing to worry about here. Both of these phones offer QHD+ displays, and also 120Hz refresh rate, but despite that, they're capable of delivering in the battery department. We've been able to get over 6 hours of screen-on-time out of these two phones, without a problem. Do note that MEMC is something you should consider disabling on the OnePlus 8 Pro. It is a battery-draining feature, and you'll find that it's not as useful as you may initially think.

In any case, once you disable MEMC, getting over 7 hours of screen-on-time on the OnePlus 8 Pro is possible. That may be lower if you set both QHD+ and 120Hz at the same time, we'd consider you leave the resolution on 'auto' setting, you won't even notice the difference. In terms of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, we've had a bit of a different experience with battery life. First, the phone went nuts and was delivering over 8 hours of screen on time. Then we got around 5, and in the end, it settled at around 6+ hours. That will all depend on your usage habits, of course.

If you're a gamer, you can expect lower numbers, of course. The OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a 4,510mAh unit, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra packs in a 5,000mAh battery. Both phones offer fast wired and wireless charging. The OnePlus 8 Pro provides 30W wired and wireless charging, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra delivers 45W wired and 15W wireless charging. The OnePlus 8 Pro offers 3W reverse wireless charging, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra offers 9W reverse wireless charging.

So, what's the verdict? Well, they're quite balanced in this regard as well. The OnePlus 8 Pro does offer faster wireless charging, considerably faster. You'll need a proprietary charger for that, however, and it also offers less in the reverse wireless charging category. The difference is much less noticeable in the wired charging, though. They also offer similar battery life in general, so, we can't really choose just one here. They're quite balanced.

Winner: Tie

OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra: Cameras

OnePlus released a stable update for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro before the two phones went on sale. That actually changed the whole perspective on the phone's camera system. It improved it quite a bit. So, that's the update that every user that bought the phone was welcomed with when firing up the device. OnePlus finally has a phone that can compete with the best out there in terms of camera performance, from the get-go.

The Galaxy S20 Ultra is no slouch either, quite the contrary. Samsung went on a limb here and decided to utilize one of its sensors as the main camera on the device. It turns out that the 108-megapixel camera is really capable, but it has its downsides. The Galaxy S20 Ultra also has a feature the OnePlus 8 Pro doesn't, that periscope camera on the back, which enables those crazy zooms.

switch to Oneplus 8 pro
OnePlus 8 Pro Camera

What are they like in day-to-day use, in practice, though? Well, truth be said, we'd give the OnePlus 8 Pro a bit of an advantage in that regard, at least based on how things are at the time of writing this comparison. Both phones are able to provide great details in good lighting. They're actually quite similar in that regard. The colors are punchy, and the dynamic range is great. Do note that the Galaxy S20 Ultra has a tendency to over-process some images still. That especially goes for images with high dynamic range.

In low light, both phones are quite compelling. Both devices can light up a scene quite a bit, though we'd argue that the OnePlus 8 Pro gets more detail out of such shots. That especially goes if you use the low light mode. The ultra-wide camera on the OnePlus 8 Pro is also a bit better in our opinion. That is not surprising as the company is using the same sensor that it used as a primary sensor on last year's flagships, and on the OnePlus 8.

In the video department, the two phones are much more similar. Both can provide great video footage, at 60fps, and 4K resolution. OnePlus really stepped up in the video department as well this year, as this is a huge boost over what last year's phones were able to provide. All in all, we'll give this one to the OnePlus 8 Pro.

Winner: OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra: Audio

Both of these phones offer stereo speakers. The main speaker is placed at the bottom of both phones, while the second one is located above the display. Those two speakers are really good on both phones. Truth be said, the difference is not that big at all. The Galaxy S20 Ultra's are perhaps a little bit louder, but that's barely noticeable. Both offer crisp sound, and are well balanced, while the distortion is almost not noticeable, it doesn't matter how loud they get.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Review AM AH 18

Neither of the two phones offers a 3.5mm headphone jack. You can either utilize a Type-C port, or Bluetooth. Once you hook up a good pair of headphones, you'll notice some differences in the audio department. The Galaxy S20 Ultra does better with lows and highs, while the two phones are quite similar when it comes to mids. Just because of that, we'll give a tiny advantage to the Galaxy S20 Ultra here, though that's not something many people will notice nor care about.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

The overall winner

OnePlus 8 Pro Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

That brings us to the end of our OnePlus 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comparison. So, as you can see, the OnePlus 8 Pro did win in more categories, but only barely. Both of these smartphones are great options, there's no doubt about it. But if you consider some smaller advantages that the OnePlus 8 Pro has, plus its more affordable price tag, we'd argue that it's the better choice. On the flip side, Samsung is a much more popular brand, so it may be easier to resell later on. It's up to you, we've given you the facts based on our experience, so… decide for yourself.

The Waterproof JBL Charge 4 Bluetooth Speaker Is Now $119
Apr 28th 2020, 15:38, by Alexander Maxham

jbl charge 4

Amazon has the JBL Charge 4 which is a waterproof Bluetooth speaker, on sale for just $119. That is a savings of around $80 from its regular price. This is also the lowest we've seen the JBL Charge 4 go for, since Black Friday last November.

The JBL Charge 4 is the latest in the Charge series. Which offers up a really great sounding speaker with waterproofing. So you can take it to the beach, to the pool and even into the shower.

Speaking of sound quality, the JBL Charge 4 has the iconic JBL sound signature, as you would expect. With some pretty heavy bass, as well as some crystal clear mids and highs. It is a 360-degree speaker, so it is going to be quite easy to full a room with sound using the JBL Charge 4. If you need some louder audio though, you can daisy chain multiple JBL Charge 4 speakers together for stereo sound.

The battery life on the JBL Charge 4 speaker is actually pretty impressive. We're looking at around 20 hours of continuous playback. So that will definitely get you through a full day of playing music or a full party. Now, unfortunately, this does use a micro USB port for charging, and not a USB-C port. But there are LED lights available to show you how much charge is left.

Amazon has the JBL Charge 4 Bluetooth Speaker in a number of different colors. And they are all priced at $119.99 right now. So you can pick and choose your favorite color or design. We really like the camouflage color actually. It's not a color that you typically see on a Bluetooth speaker.

You can pick up the JBL Charge 4 Bluetooth speaker from Amazon today by clicking here. Remember that shipping is going to be delayed a bit due to the global pandemic that we are currently experiencing.

Here's Some Bad News About The European Galaxy Note 20
Apr 28th 2020, 14:52, by Alexander Maxham

Samsung Exynos Logo Illustration AH DB

Apparently, the Galaxy Note 20 is going to be running on the Exynos 992, at least the international variant. Which means that Europeans will once again be stuck with an Exynos chipset, instead of a Qualcomm chipset. Which many believe is the better chipset, both in performance and battery efficiency.

Many want Samsung to go ahead and ditch Exynos processors and just stick with Qualcomm in its flagship smartphones. Instead of splitting them. But that won't be happening this year with the Galaxy Note 20.

Which is going to leave Europe (and a few other countries) with an Exynos-powered Galaxy Note 20 this year.

Exynos 992 is being built on a 6nm process

According to Samsung, the Exynos 992 is being built on a 6nm process. Versus the Exynos 990 which is on a 7nm process. This means that the processor will be smaller (allowing for more room inside the phone for battery), and also be more battery efficient. That's something that everyone will love.

The Exynos 992 is also going to have better performance over the Exynos 990, as expected. Which should be a recipe for a great chipset, and one that should be on par with the Snapdragon 865. And since Qualcomm isn't going to be releasing a Snapdragon 865+ this year (at least according to Meizu), that is good news for Samsung. As the Galaxy Note 20 should have relatively the same experience on both models.

Samsung has not yet announced the Exynos 992, so there's very little details available right now. But expect that to happen later this summer.

Exynos is seen as the "inferior" chipset

There have been many side-by-side tests of Samsung flagships comparing the Exynos and Qualcomm models. Showing that Qualcomm is faster, more battery efficient and just better all around. Not to mention, Qualcomm also builds in a lot of stuff into its chipset. Like the ISP, making the camera even better than on an Exynos model.

And with the Galaxy S20 series, Samsung outfitted the Exynos models with 8GB of RAM instead of 12GB. Which is rather unfortunate, considering Europe was essentially paying more for less RAM and a lesser processor. The reason for Samsung using both chipsets is sound though, relying on a single partner for a single part is not a good idea, but offering two very different experiences to Galaxy S20 users is not a good idea.

But it doesn't look like Samsung is going to be giving up on Exynos in its flagship smartphones anytime soon. As it is still investing in R&D and producing new chipsets for these smartphones.

echo dot clock

Today, you can save $20 on the Amazon Echo Dot with Clock. That brings the price down to just $39.99. Making it a really good purchase for those that want an Echo Dot, but also would like to have an LED clock built-in.

The Echo Dot with Clock is essentially the same third-generation Echo Dot, but now with an LED clock built-in. This makes it really good for using on a bedside table, as you can easily look at the Echo Dot and see what time it is. And since it's not a super bright display, it won't keep you up all night either.

That said, you can still use Alexa on the Echo Dot with Clock. Which can be used to set alarms, timers, and more. It can also be used to control your smart home products. Like a smart thermostat, smart lights and more. Making it very useful. And this is also a really great way to add Alexa into every room in your home.

This smart speaker is really great because it also has great audio quality now. Amazon worked with Dolby to tune the audio on the Echo Dot with Clock. So despite this being a very small speaker, the Echo Dot with Clock does sound really good. Allowing you to use it for playing music while you're working and such.

When it comes to music, you can also use your voice to tell Alexa to play music. It supports most of the big name music streaming apps. Like Spotify, Amazon Music Unlimited, Google Play Music, Apple Music and much more. All of which can be controlled with your voice.

You can pick up the Amazon Echo Dot with Clock in this sale by clicking here. Keep in mind that shipping is somewhat delayed right now, due to the global pandemic that is currently ongoing.

Xiaomi Has Already Started Developing MIUI 13
Apr 28th 2020, 13:03, by Kristijan Lucic

AH MIUI logo image 1

As most of you probably already know, MIUI 12 launched yesterday. Despite that, however, Xiaomi has already started developing MIUI 13. The company has officially confirmed the news.

MIUI User Research Team shared a post on Mi Community China immediately after the MIUI 12 launch event. In that post, they were asking for users to participate in a Feature Design Survey for MIUI 13.

Xiaomi already started developing MIUI 13, but no additional details were released

No information regarding MIUI 13 was released, of course, but it's interesting that Xiaomi already started developing it. MIUI 13 will probably land in mid-2021, so there's a long way to go.

All the focus is on MIUI 12 now, as it's brand new. Xiaomi not only announced it in China, but the company also shared a list of devices that will get it. MIUI 12 will roll out in three batches, at least when it comes to Chinese smartphones.

A global announcement of MIUI 12 is expected to follow in the near future. It will probably be an almost identical Android OS / skin, but with the addition of Google services. It also won't include some China-specific features, of course.

Xiaomi is expected to announce a global MIUI 12 global event soon. If we had to guess, we'd say that it will happen in May, but we're only guessing. Xiaomi did schedule the Redmi Note 9 series launch in Europe for April 30, but MIUI 12 probably won't even be mentioned there.

Xiaomi is expected to host an online-only event for this launch event, due to the current health crisis all over the world. The company would probably host a regular press event if things were different.

MIUI 12 is shaping up to be the best iteration of MIUI to date

In any case, MIUI 12 brought a lot of improvements to Xiaomi's OS / skin. The company not only revamped all animations in the UI, and introduced new navigation gestures, but it also mixed up the design a bit.

MIUI 12 is the flattest and cleanest-looking iteration of MIUI to date. The company also added some new privacy features, and a brand new dark mode. That dark mode is adaptable, and probably the most advanced implementation of a dark mode that we've seen to date.

On top of all that, the company improved its 'multi-window' feature, and also release some picture-in-picture features. New, interesting, live wallpapers have been added as well.

MIUI 12 is based on Android 10, and it's quite an interesting evolution of MIUI. The company already kicked off beta updates in China, while the first phones to get stable updates will be the company's flagships.

That will happen in June, in case you were wondering. It will take longer for global variants, though. The Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are first in line, followed by the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite, and Redmi flagships.

You Can Buy The HP Chromebook x360 For $199 Today
Apr 28th 2020, 12:52, by Alexander Maxham

1199e98d520242ac110004

Today, you can pick up the 11-inch HP Chromebook x360 for just $199, from Woot. That makes this a really great price, especially when you consider the fact that most Chromebooks are sold out right now.

Chromebooks are going fast right now, due to the pandemic. Not only are school districts snapping them up, but so are parents that need to give their kids a way to do distance learning right now. Since, not all families have multiple laptops or computers in their homes.

So if you missed out on getting a Chromebook for your kid, now is a great time to do so.

The HP Chromebook x360 is a pretty good Chromebook. And it's not too expensive. This particular model has a 11.6-inch touchscreen display. And it has a 360-degree hinge, allowing you to fold it all the way back and use it like a tablet, or even use it in tent mode.

Inside the HP Chromebook x360 you'll find the Intel N3350 dual-core chipset, with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Yes, that's not a whole lot of power inside this HP Chromebook x360. But don't forget that Chromebooks don't need as much power as a Windows laptop. Seeing as it is only running a browser. And not an entire operating system.

You can still install Android apps on this Chromebook as well, and really extend the use of this Chromebook. Battery life is pretty impressive here too. We're talking at least 10 hours on a single charge. Which is pretty impressive, to say the least. And definitely a good reason to pick one up.

You can pick up the 11.6-inch HP Chromebook x360 from Woot today by clicking here. But you'd better hurry as this won't last long, and shipping is somewhat delayed right now due to the pandemic.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 Camera & Pricing Information Appears
Apr 28th 2020, 11:40, by Kristijan Lucic

samsung galaxy fold ah

Earlier this month, Ross Young, a well-known display analyst, shared some Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 information. Well, Mr. Young is now back with even more information, as he just shared the Galaxy Fold 2 camera and pricing details.

Analyst shares Galaxy Fold 2 camera and pricing information

Mr. Young shared the information via his Twitter handle. He says that the phone will feature three cameras on the back, including 12, 16, and 64-megapixel camera sensors. Dual optical image stabilization will also be included.

Do note that he did not share the exact sensor or lens information, though. Mr. Young says that the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will cost between $1,780 and $1,980. He actually believes that the phone will cost $100 less than last year.

If that ends up being the case, it will fly under $1,900. The exact price is still unknown, but at least we can expect it to be a bit more affordable than its predecessor.

Ross Young once again reaffirmed that the device will include the S Pen. He mentioned it earlier this month, and now said it once again. The Galaxy Fold 2 will also support 5G.

The last piece of information the source shared has to do with the phone's launch date. He believes that the phone will become official alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series. He also expects that shipments will commence in September.

There you go, the Galaxy Fold 2 camera and pricing information. That is all the information that Mr. Young shared this time around, but he did offer some display info earlier this month.

Mr. Young did share some display information earlier this month

Mr. Young said that the phone's front display will measure 6.23-inch. It will be an LPTS panel, with 60Hz refresh rate, and a display hole. The main display will measure 7.59 inches, and it will be a fullHD+ LTPO panel with 120Hz refresh rate.

So, the Galaxy Fold 2 will include a much larger display on the front than its predecessor. That, at the same time, means that its bezels will be much thinner this time around.

The phone will include a display camera hole on both of its display. Which is certainly a better solution than huge bezels on the outer display, and a huge display notch on the inner display.

The Galaxy Fold 2 is, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year, at least in the tech community. This will probably be one of the most exciting phones of 2020, simply because it's a foldable phone, and because it will look much better than its predecessor.

Samsung already released one foldable smartphone this year, the Galaxy Z Flip. That device is much smaller than the Galaxy Fold, it's essentially a smartphone that folds, not a tablet that folds.

Both regular MIUI 12 wallpapers and live wallpapers are now available to download

In terms of regular wallpapers, we've included them in the gallery below the article. Do note that those wallpapers are not in full resolution. If you'd like to get original ones, you'll need to hit that download link.

There are quite a few wallpapers included in the aforementioned pack, so chances are you'll find something you like in there. Many of these wallpapers are landscapes of different parts of our planet, and they're really nice-looking.

Now, as mentioned at the beginning of this article, Xiaomi announced MIUI 12 yesterday. The company announced it in China, while the global launch will take place in the near future. We still don't know when exactly.

MIUI 12 brings revamped animations, UI changes, new navigation gestures & more

The company introduced various changes and new features to MIUI this time around. The company completely revamped animations in MIUI, so they'll be on par with iOS now, says Xiaomi.

Navigation gestures have also been tweaked quite a bit. They will work basically identical to the default Android 10 navigation gestures now. In other words, you'll get that horizontal line on the bottom of the display.

A brand new dark mode has been introduced as well. This dark mode has some really neat features, as it can adapt to specific lighting conditions, and so on.

New AOD themes, and live wallpapers have been added, and the company also improved the 'multi-window' feature quite a bit. Some new privacy features have been introduced, and so on. Click here if you'd like to know more.

How To Build A Website Optimized For Android
Apr 28th 2020, 11:00, by yackulic

AH Android logo dark new logo glitch 1

Since almost everyone is currently stuck at home, more people are connecting to the internet via their laptops or PCs than ever before. In fact, many people are regularly accessing different websites on their computers and phones at the same time. However, once the current crisis is over, that is likely to change.

Over the past few years, mobile has steadily become the main medium through which people access the internet. Many companies have even used this fact to create apps for mobile rather than simply waiting for users to access the website.

If you are building a new website now, this should be top of mind. Your website needs to work intuitively on mobile devices. If it is not optimized for Android and other mobile devices, you will lose many visitors at the landing page.

To help you get on the right track, here is how to build a website optimized for Android devices and more.

Optimal hosting

The first thing you need to do when building any website is to find the right hosting. Without hosting, your website is practically useless. Good hosting is adaptable, affordable, and reliable.

You can see these FastComet reviews to see what hosting providers can get right and wrong. The hosting you use should come with excellent customer support, and should be optimized for your website to run well on mobile. This means that not only is it adept at managing varying bandwidth levels, but is also optimized for whatever CMS you are using.

Mobile-first CMS

Traditionally, content management systems (CMS) like WordPress were created with laptops and PCs in mind. They gave you the tools to create a website that looked great on your PC, before providing the ability to see how it worked on mobile. As the world has progressed, even the most traditional CMS now makes mobile optimization much easier.

However, it is ideal now that you use a CMS with a mobile-first approach. Instead of optimizing your website for Android or mobile, you start by creating a website for these platforms. You should put in the work to make it attractive and effective on a PC, but your starting point should be where most of your visitors will start.

Optimize forms

Nothing lays bare the deficiencies of a mobile version of a website more than a form. Forms which work seamlessly on a PC can be unworkable on a mobile device. This is a major problem when forms are the most effective way of getting subscribers, making sales, and engaging with your visitors.

Any forms that you have included on your website should work as easily on mobile as on your PC. You should try every form to make sure there are no issues with it. You have probably had a number of experiences with websites where you just had to give up filling out a form on your mobile and had to wait to get to your PC. This is an easy way to lose visitors and sales.

Optimizing a website for Android and other mobile devices should no longer be an afterthought. On the contrary, start thinking of mobile first and you will find your end product is effective and attractive no matter where it is being accessed.

Telegram Developing A "Secure" Group Video Calling Service
Apr 28th 2020, 10:35, by Sumit Adhikari

telegram secure group video

Instant messaging app Telegram is developing a group video calling service. In a recent blog post, the company announced that the new service will be launched later this year.

Taking a not-so-subtle dig at Zoom, which has been hit by multiple privacy and security issues over the recent past, Telegram said the currently available group video calling services offer either security or usability. The company promises to offer both.

"The current global lockdown highlighted the need for a trusted video communication tool. Video calls in 2020 are much like messaging in 2013. There are apps that are either secure or usable, but not both. We'd like to fix that, and we will focus on bringing you secure group video calls in 2020," Telegram said.

It's not like Telegram hasn't had any controversies at all. Its end-to-end encryption is not enabled by default and that has irked the security community. Some countries like China have even banned the app on security grounds.

Back in February 2018, Apple's AppStore and the Google Play Store had temporarily removed Telegram from their platform because it was serving inappropriate content.

Nevertheless, Telegram is seeing a rapid rise in the user base. The app has now over 400 million monthly users across the world, up from 300 million a year ago.

The company says at least 1.5 million new users sign up for Telegram every day. It is the most downloaded social media app in over 20 countries.

Rival WhatsApp, meanwhile, has over two billion users globally. But unlike WhatsApp, Telegram's desktop app does not require the phone to have an active internet connection to function. Other interesting Telegram features include folders, cloud storage, and a sticker directory that lists over 20,000 stickers.

Telegram to launch a group video calling feature

Group video calling is a valuable feature of messaging apps. More so in times like this, when people are socially distancing and working from home because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past few weeks, popular messaging apps like WhatsApp and Google Duo have made several improvements to their respective group video calling features.

WhatsApp increased the group size limit to a maximum of eight participants, while Google Duo increased that limit to 12 participants. Zoom video calling also became increasingly popular during this lockdown time, although a host of security and privacy flaws has crippled it.

Telegram doesn't have a group video calling feature on its platform yet but is now gearing up to add one. The company hasn't revealed any information regarding when the service will release, though. Hopefully, that'll happen soon.

OnePlus Z Will Launch In July With A Flat Display: Tipster
Apr 28th 2020, 10:09, by Kristijan Lucic

OnePlus Z July launch

According to a new piece of information, the OnePlus Z will launch in July. This info comes from Max J., a well-known tipster. That is the same tipster that revealed that the OnePlus 8 Pro will support wireless charging, and much more.

Tipster claims that the OnePlus Z will launch in July

The tipster confirmed that via Twitter, as he shared a sketch of the device with a huge letter 'Z' on the display. On the left side you can see the word 'July', and on the right '2020'.

This is a rather clear confirmation that the phone is coming in July. Max J. is usually spot on when it comes to such information, so we believe this is legit.

As you can see, the phone will include a centered display camera hole, unlike its siblings. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, as most of you know, have a display camera hole in the top-left corner of the display.

The phone will also include a flat display unlike its siblings, which is something most people will prefer. The OnePlus Z is also known as the OnePlus 8 Lite, but it seems like the company will go with the 'Z' branding for whatever reason.

The phone is expected to pack in MediaTek's most powerful SoC

The OnePlus Z will be a mid-range smartphone. Rumors have been saying that it will be fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L processor. That is the company's most powerful chip to date.

That has not been confirmed in any capacity, though. It is still possible that this device will include the Snapdragon 765G on the inside, or some other chip. We'll have to wait and see.

The device did surface in images a while back, so we know what to expect. The phone will be made out of metal and glass, just like its siblings. It will include three vertically-aligned cameras on the back, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Those three cameras will be placed in the top-left corner of the phone. So, the phone will differentiate from its siblings in that way as well. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro camera setups are centered.

The OnePlus Z will almost certainly include an OLED display, and it will offer 90Hz refresh rate. OnePlus promised that it won't manufacture phones with regular display rates any longer, so this makes sense.

Based on the renders that leaked a while back, the OnePlus Z will probably include a 6.4 or 6.5-inch display. That will be a fullHD+ panel, in case you're wondering.

There you have it. The OnePlus Z will launch in July, so the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will get a mid-range sibling. The OnePlus Z will become a spiritual successor of the OnePlus X.

OnePlus 5 & 5T Get Their Very First Android 10 Open Beta Update
Apr 28th 2020, 09:33, by Kristijan Lucic

AH OnePlus 5T new logo 1

OnePlus has just started rolling out the very first Android Open Beta update for the OnePlus 5 and 5T. As most of you already know, those two phones haven't been updated to Android 10, yet.

OnePlus did promise that the update is coming, and this Open Beta build confirms it. OnePlus always releases Open Beta builds first to test out the upcoming stable update. Chances are we'll see several of these builds before stable Android 10 arrives to the two phones.

This Open Beta update brings Android 10 to the OnePlus 5 & 5T

So, if you'd like to get the very first taste of Android 10 on either the OnePlus 5 or 5T, you can install this beta update. Do note that you may face some bugs, though, as this is a beta update after all.

The OnePlus 5 and 5T were released in 2017, so the users that still have them can't really complain about the speed of the arriving update. OnePlus did release Android 10 a while back for all of its devices since 2018.

This update brings everything you'd expect out of Android 10, well, most features you'd expect. OnePlus still has some things to tweak and release in future builds, but you'll get the Android 10 experience here.

You'll get the revamped UI design, along with some privacy improvements, and various Android 10 features. The company is also adding new full screen gestures that OnePlus users are familiar with at this point.

Do note that these full screen gestures will be available on the OnePlus 5T only. The OnePlus 5 does include a front-facing fingerprint scanner, and OnePlus doesn't consider it a full screen smartphone.

Installing it is not a problem at all

If you'd like to switch to this beta build, you'll need to download the appropriate update package for your phone. You can find them for both devices by clicking here. At that point, you'll need to open the file manager, and move the download package to the root directory.

Once you do that, you can open the 'Settings' apps, navigate to 'System', and then go to 'System Updates'. Press the cogwheel which is located in the top-right corner, and choose the 'Local upgrade' option. At that point, you need to select the download package you moved (.zip).

Do note that your data will not be wiped, but it will be once you move back to the stable build. So if you're not ready for that, do not move to the beta channel.

We're not sure when will the very first stable Android 10 update land, but we're hoping it will happen soon. If we had to guess, we'd say a month or two, as OnePlus still needs to release several more Open Beta builds to isolate and fix all the bugs.

The OnePlus 5 and 5T are still quite compelling smartphones, and work really well. Android 10 will bring new life to the two smartphones, though.
